Sewell's in Europe 2019
« on: September 01, 2019, 11:17:16 am »
Melanie and I are off on our jollies on Thursday staying overnight in Ashford for a Friday morning train to France. Reims is our first stop.
I am not going to give our itinerary in advance, I will reveal our destinations when we arrive, so stay tuned  ;)
I will try to remember to take some photos, trying to avoid bins, although it's not always possible.  :o ;D

Melanie picked the dates. It seems to be cooling off slightly in mainland Europe, so hopefully the weather will be enjoyable.

If you travel further South that week, we may cross each other somewhere in the (French or Spanish) Pyrenees  8)

We set off from home at about 10 this morning.
Bike fully loaded and ready for the off

We are safely in Ashford having a couple of beers before an early start tomorrow.

We had a pleasant and sunny journey to Reims.

Us on the train

As you can see there were quite a few bikes on the train.

An interesting lunch stop in St Quentin

Tonight we'll be in the Ernest Hemingway bar having a few glasses of Bofferding.

But oh yeah the trip!

Rae do you plan your route for these outings with the same approach you do to our trips?

I ask as I think happening across a nice train carriage for lunch seems to never happen to me :).

But at least there's no builders bum.  :)

Looks a nice trip so far Rae. Have a good one with Mel and keep the photos coming.

The yellow panniers were on a 1950s Royal Enfield 350 single. Maybe he used to be an AA man, he was very nice  ;D

Our home for the next couple of days is the Ibis Besançon
If you look really closely you will see the bike imprisoned in the car park.

We managed to stumble across the Kilarney Pub just around the corner from the hotel and Bitburger is our weapon of choice tonight.
