The mud thing was annoying on my R1250GS, the rear of my lower legs would always get muddy. Coming from the K where nothing on me got muddy it was most annoying.

Spot on!
My right leg has crap up the back of it! That has never happened before. My leathers are normally er self-cleaning. I'm going to have to investigate cleaning products now. Grr.

And David - save your valuable time. You'll get no kicks out of it.
But I would agree that the RT format is a very pleasant, if chunky, way to pass motorway miles in peace.

I agree with FJ12. The fan coming on is not a problem. Mine comes on regularly in traffic in 35 deg C heat and can stay on for a while when stopped at lights. I find the fan comes on when the gauge goes up by 1 bar but doesn’t go up any further thanks to the fan. Keep an eye on your temperature gauge and you’ll soon get used to it. It also takes a while to drop back to normal when moving again.

There is a great ice cream shop in Honfleur and a very expensive chocolate shop, DAMHIK.

For the money that she paid, I thought that they would offer to include mine for free!

However, I was given a very comfortable chair to sit in whilst waiting and coffee in a proper cup was served, so most boxes were ticked.

Tomorrow we have to visit Honfleur for souvenir shopping, I have been informed.

I've never really liked the GS, except the original R80, and the 1300 has done nothing to change that view. Perhaps I should get a test ride on one but both the RS and the RT seem like much better options to me than a GS.

A final update on this matter.

I've been travelling around the local area today (wife wanted a new hair style, shopping at a nearby Hypermarket etc) and having passed a number of filling stations, all seems well with no queues and all fuel types advertised on their signs as available.

I hope that the Old Gits have a really good journey.

Thanks for the final update. That's great news.  :thumbsupgood:

I hope your wife found the new hairstyle she wanted, especially with Matt claiming the old one!

It's the time for the fan to stop running, as defined in the FAQs, that is the best judge of things to come.

ETA This was the advice from my dealer:

The way to test the radiator condition was to allow the bike to idle when hot to the point the fan came on. If the radiator is in good condition. the fan should switch back off within 30 seconds to a minute. Longer than that was a was a warning of issues to come and longer than 2 minutes was a sign of imminent doom

Seconded.

After cleaning mine last month it rides at 3 bars when pushing on, climbs to 4 on occasion and then in town the fan comes on and it hits 5 bars but the fan always brings it down. I'm happy with that performance.

Can I have her old hair style please? I'm bored of whatever this is!

There were/are two 'pristine' Motorsports on eBay but both had more rot than my 2012 and that was with less than 5,000 miles...
