Chipping Campden
« on: November 28, 2021, 10:32:58 pm »
I went for a quick spin today, https://kotiautotalli.com/ for coffee. Air temp was only 3c and it started to snow just as I got home, but engines do run so nicely on cold air.

That looks like a really nice destination for a coffee. That place has it all...
Yep dense air makes the bike feel much more lively I agree. Heated grips help, definitely needed at this time of year.  :D

Ooh, looks nice! And they will sell me overpriced cleaning stuff for storing on my garage shelf and never using :D. It's a bit far from me but come the spring time it's on my list for a ride over (hint: mini-meet!)

I see no reason why not. I'm sure I can find an old mini on ebay cheap enough...

Looks very Kings Road ish. Whatever happened to meeting at a transport cafe such as the Ace or Busy Bee?
As I have grown older, I've learned that pleasing everybody is impossible, but pissing everyone off is a piece of cake.

I'll suggest the migration of motorcycles from mainly cheap transport to mainly middle class frivolity machines :p.

I'm sure that they featured in an episode of the Motorcycle Show (Henry Cole).

Kiss of death?  ;D
Only kidding - any establishment that's encourages motorbikes is fine by me.

If you're after an alternative North Cotwolds stop I can thoroughly recommend Gilks' Garage (which Andy also knows):

That looks nice too! Both these places are too new for Street view, good to see new stuff coming up. Second one is also on my way to relative part of the country so there's a better chance I'll visit.

Gilks is good, but gets busy at weekends; lots of cars go there too. Touchdown cafe at Wellesbourne Airfield does a great all day breakfast, but too much Lycra. Caffeine & Machine has been taken over by idiots in very expensive cars, so best avoided. The Garden Shed cafe in Wellesbourne village is exactly like Harry Enfield's 'I saw you coming' craft bakery sketch. If you can find it, the cricket club pavilion cafe at Lighthorne isn't bad.

Excellent sumary Andy, you've tested them all thoroughly!

I'll add a couple more, even though you know them, I suspect:
- Long Itch Diner (no pretentions, and thus quite good)
- The Old Shed very close to the Charlbury TT. Nice chicks too. Of the feathered variety.

Long Itch diner has a busy bike night on Thursdays when it's not too cold. They keep odd hours otherwise, and it's often been closed when I've been past.

Podium Place on the edge of Newbury.
https://maps.app.goo.gl/fp7q42uecu6HmjyU6

I went there recently and whilst it has fancy cars inside, they put my panini ON a napkin ON a plate. I know many places do such, but why, if the plate is clean and the food is a greasy thing? (sorry they didn't have working class non-imported food)

I ate napkin.

Anyway, 3.7/5. Staff could be older ( - ). Plenty of spaces/places to park and big windows to keep an eye on bike ( + ). One car with a 4D reg plate ( - ). GPZ the only bike on show inside ( erm ).

:D. I eagerly await The Guardian inevitably getting in touch to ask me to start reviewing cafes.

Re: your other post, I didn't know that was a 'thing'. Two minutes of my life gone. I should know not to by now, but you got me.

My favourite review:
