Horns

I have found a couple of FIAMM horns used,only smallish ones,I don't think the canbus system will allow me to fit both so will fit just the one.
Do I need a relay? I have ordered the correct connector conversion to plug and play.
Bit of a nuisance that you just can't connect up without the BMW connector,don't want to cut and splice tho.

I think the common way of doing this is through a relay. Wire to the battery/fuse block/Aux Power socket and then just use the standard wiring to trigger the relay.

By the way, if you are just after a louder horn just change to one from a 2017 model onwards, very loud as standard. Made me jump the first time I used it

CANbus couldn't care less. I have a pair of high output twin-tone horns fitted, one each side of the bike. No relay, just jumped the existing cable across. Simples!

Worked on the K12 for 5 years and been on the K13 for 5 years with no problems.

You could certainly give it a try without the relay, but on the K16 if it it draws more current than expected it normally throws a CANbus error and shuts the circuit down.

I need to clarify that my twin-horns are peitzo-electric (as per the original but much LOUDER.)

If you are talking about air-horns then you will need a relay.

I can confirm they're loud - HGV loud.
The offending car froze in it's tracks.

I very rarely use horns in anger, the odd toot to make others aware of my presence in line with the advice in Roadcraft, but boy, when I do use them in anger, then I am very angry 😡

A fitted a pair to my little Honda and they are so forceful they actually slow the bike more than the brakes do...

The horns that I have is FIAMM tipo AM 80 if any one can make any sense of this description

You have a horn (snail) type pietzo-electric (i.e. non-air horn, which have a current hungry compressor and therefore need a relay) Type 80. All references on google are for the 80S which is probably a reference to a kit, rather than just the horn.

So, just piggy-back the cable from one to the other and Bob is your mother's brother.
