Well what can i say.. total relief on my 60 mile journey to Essex today and also slightly higher in the saddle makes my legs that bit more comfortable too.

What was funny is when i unboxed it i was looking for the pump adapter to attach to the nozzle to pump it up.. Then when my brain re-engaged i realised it doesn't need to be at 42psi and a gentle puff is all you need..

As i found out the seat is different between to the R and S so i'm wondering if the R is slightly narrower because it was moving a bit under bum...  ;)

Thanks Brian for the recommendation, my bums thanks you..  :-*

It might be moving because you have blown it up too much. Not used one myself but understand that they only require a smidgen of air.
As I have grown older, I've learned that pleasing everybody is impossible, but pissing everyone off is a piece of cake.

I did let some out for the return journey just to how it felt and it was still very comfortable. Unfortunately getting off my left hip seized up..
I put that down to either fitness, middle age bones, not spending enough time in the saddle, just being a wuss..

All of the above apply I'm afraid  ???

I bought a gel seat pad once which was great for comfort except when left in the blazing sun for an hour or so when it changed into  a storage radiator
Literally a  pain in the bum.

Steve
Some mistakes are too much fun to make only once

The general opinion in cycling is that gel inserts are to be avoided.

Recived the cruiser medium airhawk today and just tried it on standard seat. Looks a little to big and throws me further forward but I will have to play around with the amount of air. But the aim is to use it with the lower seat on Luxembourg trip coming up.

@baldbiker, don't forget to update us on your experience. Did it work? What pressure did you use?

ive tried different seats and air pads but the only thing that has really made a difference is a Sargent seat. I traveled all over Europe this year and the seat was excellent Bit pricey but well worth it and if you sell the bike later on, you will have no trouble getting rid of it.

Please don't memtion Sargent Seat to David (black-k1) as mine nearly crippled him when we did a bike swap for the day in Spain a few years ago...

Some bums like 'em, some don't.

Every time I put my stock, tall seat back on I think it is much better than the Sargent.

I can still feel the pain now!!!

I've never had a problem with the standard seat, doing 650 miles/13 hour days then up for more the next day, but I liked the style of the Sargent seat and the pod instead of the pillion seat would have been really useful. Boy was I glad I tried before purchase! I was the most uncomfortable seat I had ever used.

Different backsides require different seats. There is no "one size fits all" answer to a comfortable seat. Try different options and see what works (and doesn't work) for you. The best compromise solution at probably the cheapest price is the AirHawk.
Correct rear brake use is scientifically proven to shorten stopping distances in EVERY road situation.

I've just got back from a 150mile round trip with breakfast and short stop at Newlands in between so hardly a descent test, but using the lower seat it brings the height nearly to standard and it felt great. A week tomorrow is Luxembourg so more info then.
