Flipping mudguard paint and extended warranty
« on: January 13, 2018, 05:06:20 pm »
Gripe begins shortly, please fasten seat belts and be taller than however tall.

Today I finally cheated on my bike by taking it to Blade Swindon and taking out a 2017 gsxr1000. I then made it slightly better by going to Alton Bahnstormer and arranging to take their demo s1000rr out once they've repaired it. Some guy binned it.

Then I rode home happy. Then I heard a hiss and saw a nail in the rear. But no problem boyo, the warranty sent a man in a van who plugged it, though I'd expected the expense of replacing.

Whilst he was working, and as usual when it's having stuff done, I took the time to actually look at it. And I saw the front mud guard has about two inches by one inch of lacquer or wtf peeling off.

I called my garage and got told paintwork isn't covered under the extended warranty. With the implication voiced by me that paintwork isn't expected to last longer than two years then.

Anyway. I'm taking it in for a photo sess' and an eventual attempt by the garage for "good will" from bmw.

I don't know why I keep bothering with bmw. Here I am still trying to justify to myself buying the s1000rr if I like it. Yet I clearly think they should be doing more.

But then everyone says bmw service is great compared to everyone else. But then you're spending 700 odd quid on a warranty every year.

Bleh. First ride of the year was fun anyway, and the gsxr didn't make my  2015 k1300s feel rubbish, like the k1300s did several years ago when I had an f800!

I told you not to spend all that money buying a house with a garage....think how many new bikes and paintjobs you could have had for that   8)

I have full confidence in the grand alliance!

Also I took bike to bmw and as I was introducing the chap's camera to the missing lacquer I spotted a second spot on the side where it's coming off.

And then I took out an S1000RR and loved it. But i'm not sure I can justify 7.5 grand on top of mine (a 'strong' and soon to be revoked 8 grand).

So I may put mine up for sale once I resolve the paint issue and then look for a 15 plate RR.  With the lean angle sensor display. Because why not!

Referring to the HP footrest thread, just use solid mounted footpegs.
Or 'audio lean angle sensors', as they're known.

Because why not!

Because?

a) you'll kill yourself

or b) you'll bankrupt yourself

or c) you'll rupture yourself

or d) you'll find you ain't as good as the bike

or e) you'll find you ain't as young as you were, the hard way  8)

I don't want a rupture!

And yeah, I decided I'll throw some money at the mortgage and cake instead.

Well, mudguard a no-go with warranty kids, which I kind of expected.

Got bike back after the driveway debacle though anyway, yay.

Now I think whilst it's clean I'll photo it and see about bringing myself to consider thinking about definitely for sure having a go at bringing myself around to the idea of maybe in due course and the fullness of time, indeed, putting it on the autotrader.

You know it makes sense. Get rid of the almost brand new, looking great, just waiting to thrill at every opportunity madness of a bike. Who'd have it anyway?

PS You will regret it.... 8)
