Hello and welcome.  I'm looking forward to hearing what you think of your new bike. It sounds like it should be a good one.
Correct rear brake use is scientifically proven to shorten stopping distances in EVERY road situation.

I'll do a little write up.  Been a while since I've had an IL4 so I'll be pootling along.  Also looking like rain on the day I collect it. Thankfully Metzeler rear tyre only has 1k miles on it, replaced due to a puncture. Next week Tuesday is collection day.  My Honda goes this evening.

Sounds good...

I think a CB250 transplant into a K might be a step too far, but cheap all right  :D

Well I know it has had the cam chain tensioner done and I think the jump guard is done at the same time.

Current owner says clutch is fine and no noises!  Service sheet shows it is running on 5W40 oil.

I am aware of the possible issues.  Drive shaft boot is new, splines greased up at the same time. Calipers all stripped and cleaned a new pads fitted. Service done at Vines in Guildford.

Getting a fairly well sorted bike I think. Either way, it is what it is.  I'll hopefully never have to repair anything and just enjoy riding it.  I've only had two bikes fail with engine issues, one was a £10 part, shift pin for the DCT, and that was a simple enough fix.  The other I chucked the engine out and replaced it with another on, CB Two Fifty engine and it cost me £25....

The important bit is... you have done some home work so that skeleton isn’t going to jump out of the cupboard, do a search on here and every man and his dog says ‘Buy a 1300’ yes I also own a 12 but could well be a bumpy road expect the worse and hope for the best,re the 12 from 04/06 the 12 07/08 and the 13 after that.

As for the £25...nothing absolutely nothing will get done on a K(any) for 25 quid  :)

I look forward too you input 6 months from now when the honeymoon period is over  :)

I always think the R looks like an old pugilist (as opposed to a boxer) who has suffered too many broken noses.

Only a mother (or an owner) could love it  :D

I'm sitting on it riding it, not looking at it! The same applies for a KTM SuperDuke.  Every branch on the way down, but it is such a fantastic bike to ride!

Looks pretty nice to me, bar the asymmetric lights.

My ideal bike would be a half-faired K1300S, maybe in Sport colours:

How many miles has it done, any history with the bike, gotta say the headers say it hasn’t had a great deal of TLC.

FSH.  Under 30K.  It has been ridden. I know the current owner, he rides the bikes and is not overly bothered by cosmetics, but is a stickler for mechanical issues.  So the bike is in good mechanical condition. A bit of elbow grease and it will be a "show bike", but I'm a ride the bike man, not a polisher.  I like my bikes to be clean and in spot on mechanical condition, so how it looks is not something I'm overly bothered by and at the price I am not going to complain either.  It will be booked in at BGM for a service in October and then I'll take it from there.

Hah!

OK what's the best/most housewife approach to clean headers? I've seen 'acid' but I'm hoping we can use white wine vinegar or used toilet roll holders.

Exactly my thoughts!  And a bit of autosol to finish it off.
