Not precisely. I have bamboo sports time underwear and bamboo socks recently. No complaints. I did assume gimmick/panda conspiracy, but I'm happy.

Neighbour wears bamboo base layers and socks and things and swears by them. She, of course, is one of those girl thingies and so that might, but shouldn't, colour her judgement.

In general, from the reviews I have read online, there isn't a bad word about them apart from cost and prejudice.

Mind, all base layers are moderately expensive for what they are. Be interesting to see if you get pestered by small furry creatures when you wear them.

Good spot Rae! :-*

And in 3XL for fatties big-boned gentlemen.
I'll tell you when they turn up. I fully expect the legs to be a bit short, but I'm used to that failing in most clothes.

They're not 100% bamboo, by the way:
    70% bamboo, 25% cotton, 5% spandex.

Yes Rich I was aware of the mix, the spandex will be there for Stretch/comfort and the cotton, who knows.
Looking at other bamboo base layers these seems too good to be true price wise, I am sure you will let us know.

There may be import and VAT charges.

There are extra charges, but only for postage since it's a small item, below import duty levels - and they've already added VAT:
1All prices include statutory VAT and include customs duty (Great Britain) plus £8.85 shipping costs for Great Britain.

That makes it £23.85 all in.

I have found bamboo socks to be not very hard wearing. less so than cotton. Base layers should have an much easier life and wear better.

Oh, one other thing Rich, let us know if it is the type of material that will resist velcro snagging.
I have a Rukka outlast top and it is pretty much velcro resistant so knowing if bamboo is too would be helpful.

Will do, Rae.

They're on their way according to a sweetly translated email:

My wife bought some bamboo mixed with something else sheets. I didn't like them being too soft and flimsy. As far as base layers and sock go, I'llsick with merino wool. Warm, light and comfortable.
Its not always the destination that counts its the ride, having a destination just stops you going round in circles.

I wasn't suggesting that you change what you wear Ron, I just wanted someone with first hand knowledge of bamboo base layers. So far there have been none, I'll wait for Richard's opinion.  :winkthumbs:
