Could you try Five’s TFX1 gloves for size? They looked relatively slim to me—except for the forearm armour, although Five claims “its dual-fastening system with a V-shaped band and Velcro allows for ultra-precise adjustment over or underneath the sleeve of your jacket.”

Have you seen MCGearHub’s TFX1 review?
https://www.mcgearhub.com/motorcycle-gloves/best-safest-motorcycle-gloves-ce-level-2-buying-guide/#Five-TFX1-GTX-gloves

MCGearHub is more informative than the Five TFX1 video. Why are most manufacturers' videos entirely uninformative?

I have two pairs of Five gloves so I know I'm 3XL / 13. The trouble is the TFX1 seems to be quite a rare glove in the UK (plenty of Euro sellers, but returns would be 'fun'), and at £180-220 I do really need to try them on before blowing the dosh.

You can buy Five TFX1 gloves from Hideout’s online shop:
https://www.hideout-leather.co.uk/product/five-tfx1-gtx/

Considering Hideout’s customer service, I expect returns (if you need it) would be straightforward. Motolegends also sells the TFX1, but I’d much rather give my money to Hideout.

The only thing missing? Waterproofing, but that's a whole different ballgame.

Recently, Oxford launched its Nexus 1.0 D2D waterproof gloves, which are CE level 2. They have a scaphoid protector, too. I’m tempted.

Oh wow, so one can have a Nexus for dry days and a Nexus for wet days now! I really must order some in to try on.

Excellent spot Motorradpilot!

But I couldn't find them anywhere else, including Oxford's own website.
The only reason I was looking elsewhere is that I probably need 3XL, and Sportsbikeshop doesn't have them.

Just need a pair by mid-June...

You want winter gloves for riding in June?

Ah - I missed the word 'winter' in the description. Well done for your good proof reading!

What I want is a combi of:
- CE Level 2 gloves
- waterproof membrane
- not insulated to the nines

It's not rocket science, but they are as rare as hen's teeth.

I think, right now, the only 'lightweight' + waterproof level 2 gloves are the Five TFX1s.
Grrr.

Did you ever try on a pair? John Milbank isn’t someone who gives praise lightly, yet he gave Five TFX1 gloves a glowing review:

Very interesting review.

There are two things in life which always put me off buying 'something'. The first is tools and kit that comes in blow-moulded plastic cases where the hinges are simply thin plastic bits that fold when you close the case. They always fail long before the tools and I hate them...

The second thing that I hate is elastic anything because that too always fails; the sleeve tightening straps on my Halvarssons jackets, the elasticated knee expansion bits on my BMW trousers and there is nothing worse than baggy knicker elastic.

So, the elastic tensioning straps on these gloves will be a no-no for me. For mega-high mileage users where the substance of the glove wears out long before the built-in obsolescence of the elastic straps this might not be a problem but for me, no thanks.

As a distant third in the 'I hate' category is Velcro but you can't really escape it these days but again, it is always the weak link in anything structural like my current Alpinestars gloves.

Random/non-glove: I love Velcro because it can only have been designed by a kid that used to play with burdock.

Lindstrands (Harvarsson's budget brand) make some CE 2 KP gloves and they are about £100. I've got some but I think I went a size too small so I find them uncomfortable for any length of time. I was hoping that they might 'break in' like other gloves have in the past, but they didn't so I've sort of given up with them for now.

There's also a 'semi-permanent' version of Velcro called Alfa-Lok. It would be of little use on clothing as you need a screwdriver or something to prise it apart, but better than normal velcro if you want to mount something like an action camera or controller for heated clothing.
