Booked (it took a while to sort everything out regarding payment methods for these Premier Inns). Looking forward for this first bike trip of 2024.

Just a quick update, My arrival time has changed a bit. Having just got a new to me bike and it's due for a service. I am travelling down to Chippenham on the Sunday to get the bike into the FJ workshop for a 9.30 service on Monday morning. All being well I should arrive in Minehead before 6pm. So just amuse yourselves until I arrive, mine is a pint of Carling in a Tulip glass  :thumbsupgood:

I've drawn the short straw (wife working abroad), and have to do the school run on the 4th So I can't really get to Prem Inn till 9:45 (even if I stick him in breakfast club).
I can either try and catch you up (doubtful) or have you pencilled somewhere along the first days route for lunch / break?

Shame, I was looking forward to a days riding... seen as this BH has been a wet squid.

Kids! They don't need schools, that's old school (oops)! I'm building an AI tutor so that'll learn 'em real good.

Also, and I think we should appreciate that AI is now getting good at creating words in pictures when only a month or so ago it would write gibberish in any images, here's a picture i just got it to make about squib/squid:

:D

EDIT: Oh dear lord that smileys have started vanishing again!

And I thought AI could at least spell? What’s a squib? Maybe I need to stay at school.

If I type Squib into google, the parental control will kick in.

A Squib is a firework a cheap banger type firework. Most notably in the expression "He needs a squib up his arse"
An expression my Nan used to use and I didn't find out what a squib was for many years.

I thought I was the only one with vanishing smileys...

Not at all Brian. With me I think it’s an age thing… ;)

When I first watched Grumpy Old Men on TV I used to think what a moaning bunch of blokes.

Until I woke up one morning and was 50 years old and it was like a switch had been thrown and I started to think yeah…that’s right…annoys me too…I can relate to that.

Smilies started disappearing for me around the same time and I fear it’s only gathered pace since… 8)

For those of us staying at the Bear Hotel Devizes, I have contacted the hotel and they have an undercover area in the car park where we can park the bikes for free. The entrance is in Station Road.

It's a safe one! Malapropism is the name of the game and I've been rediscovering many :D. Although that got me rather rapidly onto Bushisms. I'm sure we all remember fondly:

Ok sorry I've taken us way off topic! My most Humbrol apologies!

I always thought the saying came from something that didn't work being 'a damp squib'...
