Additions and mods rather than 'bling'!
« on: May 05, 2015, 05:42:35 pm »
In an attempt to get you all to admit to your 'bling', here is a selection of the stuff I have added to my bike to 'improve' it  ::)

First up is the headlamp protector, you don't wanna know how much a new headlamp is!

Next up is the tasty blue MRA screen, lots of function and a fair amount of bling too, oh and the blue screen bolts are just pure bling....

There is a whole lot of 'stuff' in this shot; the Grip Puppies foam grips, the Wunderlich 'cruise control' throttle lock, the Wunderlich indicator cancel assist, the Optimate charging/power out lead dangling out of the front of the fairing and at the top is the mount for the Ghost Drift HD camera. Also in this shot, but not obvious, the Helibars.

The R&G front wheel carrier protector bung....

....and the side crash bungs....

Next up is the R&G clutch protector plate, you should see Costas's after his tarmac slalom....

...and the water pump protector on the left....

...and finally on the R&G front, the rear drive hub protector..

The Sargent Pillion Pod, great little time but made of coctalotium! Also in this shot is the SW-Motech Alurack complete with the extended buttons to allow the fitment of the original Sport Cases as well as the Givi boxes on their plates, not shown.

Here is the extra height I get from my home-made MV-Verholen seat raising kit, 15mm...

This is the TyrePal TPMS head unit....

....and the rear sensor unit on the alloy valve stem as the original rubber one bent under the centrifugal force of the sensor....

The clear front indicator lens, cheap from China via eBay, needed some fettling but overall really good if you hate the amber originals.

A general shot showing the BMW supplied Laser Deeptone silencer etc.

A general cockpit shot sowing the Garmin mounted in the field of 'glance'.

Awkward shot of the Garmin mount.

And finally, a disastrous shot of the Ilmberger hugger which neither use nor ornament as it doesn't keep the shite off the bike and can't be seen with the Sport Cases on.

And that is about it, apart from the bits I forgot...

Brian (who doesn't really do 'bling'  ;D )

PS Apologies for some of the shots, I shall re-do them at some point after the tide goes out here in sunny Newbury, not!

I haven't got any 'bling' on the K12 at all and I'm now feeling extremely ashamed that I haven't! Not just ashamed but now rather depressed. Now I'm going to have to go and lie down in a darkened room for quite a while until I come to my senses. :'(

Are we there yet? I said ARE WE THERE YET? I SAID ARE WE THERE YET?!!

...on the other hand Bobbob, every time I see a 'naked' S I do wonder why I bother.

Brian (who wonders what Bob would make of his push bike if he thinks his motorcycle has bling  ::) )

I bought some black bolts, £2 for 4 I think and they were terrible. Chewed themselves to bits and didn't hold the screen in so I went over to homebase and got some geniune roofing bolts. Plus if they ever do corrode I have about 50 more.

And two, learn to count?

Or was that one of these:

I don't really do bling, but the last owner did. He had to take quite a bit off before handing it over (can, black indicators, screen, bag mount thingummmie on the petrol cap)
I quite like the Ilmberger hugger he left on though - understated, and seems to work.
Not so keen on the carbon covers here and there. Pointless, but easier to leave them in place.

And I've added:
- front fender extender - who knows if it works. I'll have to go for a filthy ride with another K1300S owner to find out
- rear mudguard extension. Yet to be confirmed as useful (i.e. I haven't looked at it since Monday's heavy rain - it was v late)
- Touratech sidestand pad to increase its area. Works nicely, ratles but nothing some superglue / goo couldn't shut up.

Oh, and the best bit - a side stand. Why aren't they standard? Wouldn't be without it.

Bolts are great! Any redesign is disappointing. I built my PC and got an aftermarket CPU cooler which came with special "clever" bolts. They are now in the vacuum cleaner and my CPU cooler is held on with old school nuts and bolts.

Your bike didn't come with a side-stand?

Brian (whose bike did, but he fitted a centre-stand and can't understand why they don't come with one of those
