Travel plans for 2021
« on: December 29, 2020, 02:35:18 pm »
OK so not a ride out report as such but it may turn into one.
Do you have any travel plans for 2021 if we are allowed to travel that is?

I have re-jigged a trip that was cancelled for 2020 and extended it a bit.
Melanie and I are off to France again, Le Touquet, Alencon, La Rochelle, Biarritz, Cahors or Perigueux (haven't decided yet),
Chateauroux, Versailles then Saint Omer and home. All we need now is it to be safe to travel.
Even if it all goes tits up at least I had the enjoyment of the planning  :o

Hmmm:
- round Scotland on the K with the IAM
- NZ much later in the year (no bike though)

If neither of those come off I'm up for meeting at Barnard Castle, so we can all test our eyesight.
I have the t-shirt ready:

Haaa!

Hmmm. I've made zero plans, for two reasons:
1. I'll be annoyed if they aren't possible due to plague.
2. I might be 'broke' for quite some time so at most i'll be considering weekends somewhere.

I do mean to go back to Wales at some stage though. Haven't been possibly even since before the last K! Snowdonia was the first time I got faster than and actually overtook another motorcyclist :P. Llanberis pass no less! And on my SV650 Sport!

Blimey now there’s a question, currently we have zero plans, my gut feeling this Covid thing will get mixed up with Brexit and god knows where things will go, assuming we have all had 2 Covid injections and can prove it and the Europeans accept them, can’t see anything happening in first half of 21, currently expectations are a tad lower and being able to ride to Crossgates cafe will do for a start.

We are heading for Switzerland in the summer (Grindelwald) via France (or Belgium, or Holland if that turns out to be easier!). Myself and wife on the K1300GT, and our daughter on her Honda NC700X.

We hope to visit Europe's biggest bike dealership nearby, a couple of cafe's well known for views of the Alps and a village that is only accessible by cog railway and cablecar.

The French Duffers trip was cancelled this year and I'm hoping it can go ahead in 2021. This is usually the last Monday in April, it might be a bit tight but I'll keep my fingers crossed.  8)

No plans for me - even though I'm only 1/3rd of the way through running in my V85... Rae - if you get down Perigeux way then would be good to hook up for a (take-away) coffee or some such. I'm only an hour or so away from that place...!
Late emerging biker - took the first bike plunge at 50 with a 12GT : swapped for a 13S 9 months in... then got my mitts on a lovely 2014 13R Dynamic in rrrrrracing rrrrred! Then the COVID came along... so I upped it to France and bought a V85TT... O Sole Mio etc etc!

At the moment my travel plans are Lidl and back.  I have to go to London for an eye checkup after surgery in December 2020, so that is Tuesday's adventure. Hints of snow mean I take the train, not the bike...

That would be nice Owen, we will be travelling from Biarritz to Perigueux on the 29th June if everything goes to plan and the plan stays the same. This link gives a rough idea of our route, obviously the start and end points will remain the same but the route may change slightly. Google Map Click Here
We will also be about an hour from you on the 27th at our Coffee Stop on our journey from La Rochelle to Biarritz Click Here
Either would suit.

Thanks Rae - appreciate the links. Checking those dates the 27th will likely be best for me - I am only semi-retired and tend to work Monday-Wednesday : so Sunday 27th would likely be the best day - be good to meet up, coffee, and pair up for an escorted ride for an hour or so - but you'd have to go slow... I only have half (ish) your horsepower - and somewhat less experience!!

I'm not sure that would do the job Brian, Melanie has been known to egg me on to give it the beans, I remember one time when on the A17 there was an old Porsche that was getting a bit lairy and she said, and I quote "get rid of this idiot". Now having said that and having had a speeding fine almost every time I have been to France and on the last trip, two, I am inclined to try to stick to speed limits. I try but sometimes I fail  :-[
