Thanks all. I'll go with lead acid I guess, but will query the price - OEM BNW or no, surely 162 quid is OTT!!!???

Ditched my lead acid battery on the K in 2018 and fitted lithium, on an interesting learning curve because my oldest lithium(XT660X) is nudging 7 years old and still good.

Scuse ignorance - what's the difference / advantages between the two. Can you maintain both with an optimate (3) or does lithium negate the need?
Thanks,
Andrew.

Oh no, you have taken the lid off the volcano, Chris will be erupting for days now  :-\

Lol

My battery is, I would have thought a BMW part, and the dealer is Sycamore Motorrad Peterborough, who sold the bike to me and do nearly all work on it.

I simply asked them to fit a new battery when it is next in with them, as the existing one is now over four years old and, having suffered quite a few failures on bikes and cars without warning in years past I always renew at this age. I did not ask the price, however when I added a Navigator 6 to the request last week (to replace my Navigator 1V) I was told that my battery was in, at a cost of £83.00

I cannot imagine that a main dealer would fit a non - BMW part without discussing it with the customer first?

Cheers for this - will enquire further.

Thanks for responses guys.
@ flatfour, would be interested to know what battery (make) you are having fitted (and is this at a main dealer)?
Cheers,
Andrew.

Thanks for swift reply, appreciated - is that at a BMW main dealer also? If so sounds like I need to ask my MD to double check the price or advise iro other options.
Cheers,
Andrew.

Hi. Per above my 2013 K1300R needs a new battery. Dealer quoted £162 which seems a lot (but possibly not!??)
Could you advise in this respect and if a long way OTT advise a good alternative? Re the actual replacement, anything tricky involved or things to be aware of?
Many thanks in advance,
Andrew.

Soz to pick up on an aged thread!! If using a hornig inside bar mount, can the bolts which clamp the bar be loosened off (access appears tricky) to allow the bungs to be removed and the ball mount hornig attachment to be inserted?
Cheers,
Andrew.

Also, any reason why the kidder only happens at low speed / under little or no load?

Not sure if this is a totally ludicrous question - could you advise which bolts I should be checking please?

Oh ok - that sounds less worrying than a knackered drive shaft!! Bikes done 12.5k and doesn't have a hard life.
