The Euro K Club Lounge / Flight Deck Cafe at Turweston.
« on: October 12, 2022, 04:55:45 pm »
On Monday, a mate is leading a group ride over to the Flight Deck Cafe at Turweston.

Anyone here paid it a visit? Tripadvisor rates it from awful to excellent, (slow and expensive with suspect hygiene).

In other words, would I be advised to take sandwiches and a flask and sit out on the grass?

K1200 / K1300 Forum / The hot start problem.
« on: July 27, 2021, 11:27:04 pm »
On a couple of occasions I've experienced the hot start problem with my K1300S Motorsport.

I could go out and purchase the wiring and relay kit 613 677 041 74 but basically it's quite expensive for some heavier pieces of wire and a starter relay.

I'm going to have a go at making up the wiring and fitting it myself.

Has anyone had a go at doing this and how did they get on?

This linkage sits in an area forward of the rear wheel and collects all the road dirt thrown off the rear wheel. The four sets of needle roller bearings should be cleaned out regularely and packed with clean grease. The first time that I took a set apart there was hardly any grease in there and what was there was very dirty.

A piece of timber with another block inserted at the rear can be positioned to take the load off the bearings as the through spindle bolts are removed.

The needle rollers are then cleaned out and packed with fresh high melting point grease. Be careful the first time this is done because of the lack of grease in there you are likely to have lots of loose rollers falling out. Best to place a tray underneath to catch any bits. Once packed properly with grease this will not be a problem in the future. It's a little finger job.

All cleaned and lubed ready for another years service.

So far as I know this procedure is not included in the BMW maintenance schedule.

The Euro K Club Lounge / Vehicles sorned.

Three vehicles SORNED today. Best to get in before the end of the month or they clobber you for another months road tax.

At least that will stop me taking the bike out for a blast.

Mind you the roads are dodgy since the isolation with walkers and kids appearing from nowhere especially when riding a push bike. Walkers and dogs seem to have reclaimed the roads and have lost all road sense.

K Club Humour / The Irish Wrestler
« on: January 21, 2020, 03:59:02 pm »
A Russian and an Irish wrestler were set to square off for the Olympic gold medal. Before the final match, the Irish wrestler's trainer came to him and said
'Now, don't forget all the research we've done on this Russian. He's never lost a match because of this 'pretzel' hold he has.
Whatever you do, do not let him get you in that hold! If he does, you're finished.' The Irishman nodded in acknowledgement.

As the match started, the Irishman and the Russian circled each other several times, looking for an opening.
All of a sudden, the Russian lunged forward, grabbing the Irishman and wrapping him up in the dreaded pretzel hold.
A sigh of disappointment arose from the crowd and the trainer buried his face in his hands, for he knew all was lost.. He couldn't watch the inevitable happen.

Suddenly, there was a long, high pitched scream, then a cheer from the crowd and the trainer raised his eyes just in time to watch the
Russian go flying up in the air. His back hit the mat with a thud and the Irishman collapsed on top of him, making the pin and winning the match.

The trainer was astounded. When he finally got his wrestler alone, he asked 'How did you ever get out of that hold? No one has ever done it before!'

The wrestler answered 'Well, I was ready to give up when he got me in that hold but at the last moment, I opened my eyes and saw this pair of testicles right in front of my face.
I had nothing to lose so with my last ounce of strength, I stretched out my neck and bit those babies just as hard as I could.'

The trainer exclaimed 'That's what finished him off?'

'Not really. You'd be amazed how strong you get when you bite your own nuts.

 GIVING UP..

As much as I love riding motorcycles, and everything that comes with it -- the camaraderie, customising, tinkering and all the other bits and bobs -- it is taking up too much of my time. I am struggling to keep up with the everyday basics of cleaning and cooking and maintaining the house, so something has to give. Consequently, I have decided to get rid of my collection.

Below is a list of what's available. Serious inquiries only,
    Thanks for reading and understanding.

The Euro K Club Lounge / FREE entry to Brooklands Museum

Enjoy FREE entry to Brooklands Museum as part of the National Lottery #ThanksToYou campaign in December

From 23rd November to 1st December 2019, we are opening our doors for free to National Lottery players. We are one of 400 participating National Lottery funded visitor attractions across the UK in saying ‘thanks’ to people who have raised money for good causes by buying a lottery ticket. Brooklands Museum received £5.6M from the Heritage Lottery Fund which enabled us to build the Aircraft Factory and Flight Shed and restore the only surviving section of the Finishing Straight. We have joined the #ThanksToYou campaign which is our way of thanking Lottery players and inviting them to see how this contribution has transformed the site.

Simply come to the Museum on any day from the 23rd November to 1st December (inclusive) bringing a current or old Lottery ticket or Scratch Card and you will be allowed FREE entry.

If no Lottery Ticket or Scratch Card is produced, normal admission prices apply.
