Always seemed OK to me, I've been a member for around 20 years. Whilst I don't attend many of the events these days, in the past I've been part of the once annual trips overseas with the East Anglian Section and always found things to be very well organised, with some interesting destinations and very high attendance levels.
As I don't ride in groups anyway, preferring to make my own way to the meeting points/overnight stops, the situation referred to on Club Runs has never been a factor for me.
The tool hire facility also has its uses, and the monthly magazine is well put together with articles that I find informative.
