M1000XR - how wrong are those mirrors?

Good luck spotting blue lights in them. Lovely leathered elbows though.

I think this bike looks stunning. Only problem for me is you can't put panniers on as it's got an upswept exhaust compared to the normal model  :-\

You're right, Belco. It does look good - and a K1300S in the same black with accents would look nice too.
It's the practicality I was thinking about. I'm surprised it won't take luggage. Not really an H2 SX competitor if true.

I've always said that a S1000RS would be an interesting bike and this, for me, reinforces that view. The engine (and frame?) from this with more "road sport/touring" bodywork (like the K1300S) and integral detachable luggage would, for me, be a real contender.  (Although, it could never match the raw torque of the 1300, or the supercharged 1000).
Correct rear brake use is scientifically proven to shorten stopping distances in EVERY road situation.

To be fair they've improved the XR since 2017(?), but they're still not a smooth ride like a K.

At risk of being heretical, I would expect a R1300 RS, when it exists, will be a better ride than an XR.

I don't know of any issues with vibes in the S1000R or the S1000RR so I assume the M1000XR engine should be better than even the newest S1000XR regarding vibes, but that is an assumption.

I'm sure the R1300RS, when it arrives, will be a great bike, but it still won't be a player in the market the the K1300S, the H2 SX, the KTM SD1290GT (and the 1390GT when it arrives) or the old ZZR1400 are/were the leaders in.

Comparing my non ESA K1200 Sport to my non ESA XR 🙄 non sure which has been the biggest money pit to get how I want….

£22k for the base model and £28 for the full M Pack, but I suppose that compares to the Ducati V4RS Multi coming in at £32k  :o

Stupid prices.

It makes the H2 SX SE Performanx Tourer (every add-on you can get) seem a bargain at £28k Even adding a set of BST carbon wheels and a heated Sargent seat only takes it to £32k. The bhp may be similar but over 100 lbft is in a completely different league. ... and it has luggage!!!!

Mine's 5 from new, and it's going just fine.
 
I've come to the conclusion that motorcyclists are a fickle bunch who buy the next shiny thing, and then pass it on a year later, and most sales aren't driven by unreliability. If more bikes were for commuting and not leisure that would change, I guess.
