Look forward to replies cuz ever since the demise of Clark’s on top of the Lickies and the complete lack of any attempt from BMW to fill the gap, their are good mechanics out there(as in put a 1300 gearbox in my 1200 as a favour ) but I’ve been looking for a true independent ever since and that’s got to be 6 years or more.

Very early on with my K ownership made the decision that A it was long haul ownership and B buy what ever spares turn up along the way combine both of those with use of my K has also needed a decent 3 day weather warning and it’s hardly been wet never mind subjected to winter weather, although  I’d recommend avoiding any HS2 construction because even with the many road sweepers they can muster still desperate road conditions.

And the decision on what transport this Wednesday for Le-Mans(Moto 24 hour) is still open to debate looking out the kitchen window.

Welcome to the madhouse, cheapest advice is do lots of homework and understand how these K’s tick, they still need a few bob(Euro’s) to bring them into the 21’st century but it can be done, and I say that who is currently trying to get his head around(and failing) a MT10,can we have some photo’s.

Did the rear brake bleed last night, cap back on the res, tighten it and all is good,go out for a test run this morning doesn’t feel right and then brake warning light comes on  and I’m thinking Jeeze….just about to phone my other half to bring the van!!! Have a look at rear res see I’d tightened the top too much and it had twisted in the metal clip twisted the rubber brake pipe  :o,twisted res the other way and all’s good….phew

Had the ABS warning come on and I’d done nothing and with an XR that would tell me it needed servicing when it didn’t a 10 vin GS911 was just a fact of life.

The important part of this thread the miles were done outside of the UK….if folks think it’s enjoyable doing such in the UK good luck to e’m,my advise would be go see a shrink!!! It’ll be more fun.

We had been to the GP on the Sunday and I mentioned to my other half that if we rode home in one go on the monday we would have a day off on the tuesdy before back to work on the wednesday so that was the driving factor.

Did we enjoy it?? as I said in the earlier post we were match fit(and younger) and doing it as a one off, without either of the other two mentioned would have all the attraction of a hole in the head,I’ve had a spell of not riding a bike in the UK(I’ve got 7) cuz the next speeding ticket was going to be a ban, even this year it’s Le-Man’s in April, and the NW200 in may which at least Southern Ireland on the way.

The question most folks ask us,what state were we in when we got home? Watched a film on the box then went to bed 😊

Over the years lost track of the number of 5/6 hundred mile days we have done, but only one 1000 miler,Barcelona/Birmingham,we were already match fit as we had been down too the Bol the week before and then round the coast to the GP in Barcelona,it helps being 2 up,hit the road 4am and rolled in the house at 8pm,did it on a 955 Tiger that I’d converted to SM with a 17” front Dymag, bought new 2001 and still have it somewhere under a cover at the back of the garage.

As the others said welcome to the madhouse,as for the bike one of THE great wonders and I’ve got other stuff as well, but if I was starting again it’d be a 1300r.

I’ve no connection but just finished drooling over the one on eBay at Sheldon Motorcycles but have run out of room  ::)
