« on: August 17, 2017, 02:50:34 pm »
I needed to get the WiFi version for my GS LC so I'm selling my GS911 Bluetooth. It's only been registered in one bike so has "room" for 9 more.
Much more than a service reset tool. List of functions etc can be found here...
https://www.hexcode.co.za

£274 new.
£170 including UK postage.

For Sale / Wanted / GS Adventure for sale- NOW SOLD
« on: March 17, 2017, 04:12:04 pm »
I'm selling my 2010 GS Adventure. OK, I know it's not a K but you might be interested.
I was intending on keeping this for a few more years but a friend selling his LC version was too good an opportunity to miss.
Last of the oil cooled version with twin cams etc.
It's well used but, I'd like to think, well looked after and maintained. It's done the miles but regular applications of ACF50 have been pretty good at keeping the finish. Most of the miles have been done solo. Roughly 15k with luggage. 4k with pillion and luggage. Difficult to value as I can't find any others with this mileage. £4800, frankly it's a bargain. I'm in no rush.

Kit Reviews / Davida Jet Helmet
« on: October 02, 2016, 10:57:05 pm »
I'm partial to an open face helmet when it's warm. Yes, I know jaw protection is comprised, but it's just more comfortable.
My old Cromwell Spitfire helmet is well past its best so I've been looking for a replacement.
Called in at the Davida HQ on Monday to have a look-see
Excellent service, I rode away with a black and silver Jet helmet. Beautiful finish, leather lined, very well made. Used it in earnest for the first time today. Very impressive. The quietest helmet I've ever used, by a long way. Felt like I was wearing a double set of earplugs, and then some. Comfortable. Highly recommended.

Well, the TTR has gone and I've splashed out on one of these. Intending to go further afield to ride green lanes and trails.
Loving it so far.

This is the only photo I can find of this one. My first BMW, bought 2nd hand from a dealer. Pam still reckons it was the most comfortable bike we've ever had. I think it was such a shock to her system after riding pillion on the Guzzi for so many years. Took us to Austria one summer plus many other places. Excellent weather protection. A willing engine too.
I must go through our old photographs and scan them.

Moto Guzzi LeMans II - 1978
My first "big" bike which I bought in 1981 with just over 5,000 miles on the clock. Now showing around 80,000 but it's done many more as it loves to eat speedo cables.
Now has a Sprint twin Cebi headlight fairing and currently has cut down lower fairings and a set of Jota adjustable bars. I have all the original bits and bobs including a Lafranconi exhaust.

With the original fairing lowers...

PaulC's Bikes / K1200GT - 2007 to 2011
« on: February 15, 2016, 04:47:48 pm »
I really liked this bike. Power and handling in excess of my needs. Bought it with about 5,000 miles done, sold it with approaching 60,000 miles. Let me down a few times but BMW always sorted me out, even if I had to push things along sometimes. Self accelerating cruise control which would not turn off and a dodgy camshaft at 48,000 miles spring to mind. That one resulted in a new top end... another story!
Many continental visits, Round Britain Rallies, etc.

PaulC's Bikes / R1100RT RIP
« on: February 15, 2016, 04:17:01 pm »
2000 to 2006. I covered over 50,000 miles on this one. Bought from a relative of a colleague who had imported it from Holland.

One of my favourite past bikes. Ugly, to my eyes, but comfortable, good balance of power and handling. Did a handful of National Rallies. Took us to Holland, Slovenia, Spain and places in between. Finally met its end thanks to  a SMIDSY driving a Landrover. Although I ended up spending a couple of days in hospital I'm sure it would have been a different story on many bikes. The Landy couldn't drive away either! The 1200GT came next.
Slovenia...

The end...

Places to Stay / Dolomites, Italy

The Pension Maria in Antermoia.

http://www.pension-maria.it

On my recent Euro tour we stopped here for a late lunch and ended up staying for three nights. Lovely location. Great food. Run by two generations of a family who couldn't have looked after us any better. Great value at €50 half board. We were their first English guests. A regular stop over for German bike groups, two groups passed through during our stay. Daniela, the daughter, speaks excellent English, the son is pretty good too (a good chef), with the rest of the family we muddled through in our usual way. They even taught us some Ladin, their local language.
Underground garage.

Perfect. I'll be back!

The Euro K Club Lounge / Ratchey Spanner offer
« on: May 29, 2015, 10:54:57 am »
My local B&Q has Torx angle head ratchet spanners on offer at about 65% off. I paid around £3 each for 8, 11, 13, 14 and 17mm spanners, I already had a well used 10mm one. The sets were 50% off??? Cheaper to buy them individually.
You can never have too many tools!
