Nice one Steve.

Now then, as the S is a somewhat different beast, do you have the procedure for that?

No recalls on the 2013, Yamaha seem to learn from their mistakes.

Apart from my bike  only having one left tank cover (cos the other one, unlike the bike in the instructions, is the right tank cover  ::) ) that all seems perfectly strightforward...

Many thanks as always Steve and I applaud you.

Last winter I did this mod to my K1300S (2009) bike. Last summer the hot start issue had gotten so bad that every time I stopped while riding, it took a second try to get started. There was a free recall a few years back but my bike was not too bad at the time. Now much worse. Some posters were trying to tell me it was the battery. I know battery maintenance. So I bought the kit and installed it. Night and day difference. Same battery never a failure again. I recommend it if you are having troubles.
