K1200S Double Bubble Screen
« on: April 06, 2015, 11:43:02 am »
I'm keen to fit a higher screen, and was wondering if there is a particular favourite amongst the members here.  I've looked at the 'usual' suspects (i.e. MRA, Powerbronze etc).  Any advice would be most helpful.

Thanks,

Glen

Any particular reason why the MRA is better than the others as I was going to go with a Powerbronze, simply because I'm a tart and thought their iridium silver one would like nice on my black bike.  :)

You might try a few and find like I did that the original is as good as any.  ;D

Personally MRA model selected covers my head and body better than the original cause simply is bigger by 3,5 cm.
Aftermarket ones offer a selection of style, shape, dimensions, colors etc, something that the original is not.
IMHO the original is better if fits your height and style and being thicker than all aftermarket doesn't vibrate in high speeds, not that its a vibration worth mentioning.

Well, noooo! I actually have two white wheels and two blue wheels and I swap them over every once in a while just to keep you lot on your toes  :o

Brian (whose original wheels were the grey yeuk colour till it all fell off and he rather fancied the Boxer Cup colours  ;D )

Brian where did you get your pillion seat cover from and would it fit with a standard seat?  :) Graham.

It came with the bike and no!

It is part of the Sargent seat module system. You buy a 'front' seat which comes with a full-length seat base. That is what you see in both of my piccies above. You then add either a pillion pad (with or without detatchable backrest) AND/OR the Pillion Pod which is what you see in the second piccie. The first piccie shows it with the pillion seat pad fitted. The Pad and the Pod are interchangeable by removing the set and turning two 90 deg turnscrews.

The pod lid hinges at the front edge, is lockable, has 2 LED lights inside which come on when the lid is lifted and holds some stuff; a few litres from memory but you will find all the data on the Sargent site. The pods are available in black or any of the standard colours although whether the 'old' colours like mine are still avilable is doubtful; they couldn't supply touch up paint last year when I needed some.

They are hideously expensive new and I doubt I would have shelled out on it had it not come with the bike (complete with original seat)!

They come up on fleabay on a sporadic basis and TomL bought one a few weeks ago (and I am sure someone else did too, but can't remember who t'was.

Brian (who thinks they are the dog's wotnots without having to have the dog)

PS 'Frankawa' off the old site sold some (from Spain) in carbon which were just a cover and looked neat, but we have lost him along with a number of others since the sabotage!
