I have magic scuff rails on my panniers. They sometimes change colour after a bit of filtering.
As I have grown older, I've learned that pleasing everybody is impossible, but pissing everyone off is a piece of cake.

I love that. I'm sure I can see three different colours: white, blue & green?

The worrying thing is that there are cars out there without an equivalent amount of blue/green/yellow/red paint.
Correct rear brake use is scientifically proven to shorten stopping distances in EVERY road situation.

71607692099 part no for right and 71607692100 for the other side . Around 80 pounds UK. Surely a painter would cost less.

i would paint the covers....take off and sand then use hi-build/high build primer and sand again untill perfect, then paint. really a pro should only charge buttons if you got it done professionally i.e its not a big job.

It is widely accepted that at anything bigger than a walking speed drop, even R&G bungs can cause frame damage. Engine bars are even worse in a road-speed tarmac event.

Unfortunately I got hit sideways (left, on the coolant pump) yesterday evening. The bike went down on its right side. I have the sw-motech engine guards. They look impressive. But the right bar bent and is pressuring the engine cover. I see some engine oil drops, and I think the cover is cracked. And the clutch master cylinder cover is scratched. This was at slow speed, overtaking a stopped bus at a congestion in town. So I agree with Phmode: engine bars don't seem to be a good protection, they might even make it worse -- specially at the price they go for.

I won't even try to straighten them. I will remove them and get the R&G master cylinder cover.

I am not sure about "upgrading" the OEM bungs to R&G. If I had the R&G, I think it would have been worse for me. The car front bumper would have struck them and probably push me further to the right side. With the OEM one, it just grazed the left one lightly.

A few remarks  , of course personally learned the hard way.
The inner crash protectors do their job at the cost of the side panels,  will stick to them.
A reminder here might be useffull to some as in many bikes the right one is not oresent and you have to spent some 20 £ to get them.
Any aftermarket protector delivers it's promises up to a point, different from brand to brand but all very poor for such a heavy bike.
R&G R side clutche protector will be proacrcally vanished of tpu crash witn more that 80kms.
The L side low water protector will be in an extremis at 60kms .
Bar protectors by R&G will do their job up to 130kms.
RIZOMA are another option.
Best for front wheel are the ones made by Metisse de
For rear cardan wunderlich offers a top quality product .
After 15 years with K bikes and more that 200 insurance claims those above are our results.

Embrace the wind.
