Newbie Hello
« on: April 04, 2018, 09:38:45 am »
Just thought I'd be sociable and say hello as I'm new to this forum - I've had a K1300S shaped itch I've wanted to scratch for a couple of years and have finally gone and got myself one now I've made more room in the garage...... I travel through Europe at least twice a year (I've got friends in Bavaria) so I'm looking forward to giving it a good workout (WSBK at Imola in May possibly?)

Hi Stevie and welcome to the madhouse that is EuroKClub  8)

That must have been one very big itch and quite expensive to scratch too...

Now then, Imola in May and perhaps Bavaria in October  ;D

Either way, enjoy the bike and as you can see we have some goodies for sale so if you need anything, now's the time.

Welcome Stevie,

I can't quite bring myself to ride to SBK, even in the UK. The splitting of races days drives me mad, but it works better if you're already away.

One day I need to go to Mugello for the MotoGP. I believe it gets a little busy, but that's half the fun? Anyone been in recent times?
And Phillip Island - but that's a lot lighter on the traffic side, but you can't easily ride there ;D

I did Mugello MotoGP on a KTM 990 Superduke ten years ago and I was in Tavullia on my KTM RC8R last summer. I now looking for a slightly more civilized way to travel (luggage?). And yes, Mugello is mad......
I only want to go to WSBK at Imola as its reason to go there - I agree that the split format is a bad move for the spectator.

Hello back & Oh yes! Envious of your blatant excuse for visiting these so called 'friends' residing on the Continent of Europe.  8)  Empty, open sweeping bend upon bend upon bend and half decent road surface? Yon K1300 was totally made for it/that! Enjoy yerself and, remember!

Mugello has to be experienced. We did Misano last year and it was utter shyte in comparrison to Mugello. Although, having said that! I think just about everywhere else probably is?  8)

I wasn't wearing a helmet - or casket! As the frenchie copper with the best job in the world shouted - no casket! I was wearing a flat cap, but that doesn't count apparently.  :(

I let him off with the bald rear tyre, this time....

I mean, did you just forget  ;D

I was only going round the corner to take a photo on the start/finish straight. Little did I know that they were lying in wait for me. Darn it !

To be fair the bloke was extremely nice to my Mrs who was after all, blameless and I had no-one to blame but myself. Him being a copper first and biker second, once he'd been paid for my reckless and frankly downright dangerous behaviour, he asked us where were we heading now?

Italy - Mugello.

He then went onto give us directions which would enable us to take the coastal route - "it is nice to ride by the sea, yes."

We then stopped 300 yards up the road for the most expensive petrol in the world, as I was running on fumes, sorry fear: at which point I dropped my 6-week old Shoei X-Spirit 2 and watched it bounce down the forecourt, in abject horror.  :o

The coast road was also ram packed with mental Italian's and we had to bail onto the Toll road or we probably still would have been there yet, or dead, or both?

No breathalyzer or any such rudeness, just a document check, although he had no clue what a V5 is? Takes speshul skills to know a good one of them from a stick of garlic, ken.  ;D

P.S. My long suffering wife paid the 22.50 euro fine as I'd blown all my cash in harbour restaurant.  Very sorry about this dear, natch...

We did eventually arrive at Mugello at 1am on the Friday morning. But that's another story.

Cheers. TB.
