The first thing I would do is take out the rear pads and check them for wear and while they are out take the opportunity to clean everything to get the brake dust off, grease the pin and reassemble. Check the disc for runout as well.

BMW good will has a 5 year cut off but I think the hot start problem might outlive the good will. It's worth a shot, the worst they can say is, no.

Start it up let it tick over for a few seconds and the rest should go in. Make sure you are on level ground and on the centre stand.

You dealer should install the new wiring loom for free.
Perform a forum search for hot start and it'll give you a lot of results. It was covered just the other day.

You don't have to own a BMW to hang around.

Actually there is something to report, I checked my front pads after all this talk of brake pads and they are getting a bit low so I have ordered a set from Sportsbikeshop, still a bit of meat on them but thought I'd better change them before our French trip. They are the original Nissin pads and have covered almost 36,000 miles. I could probably push them to close to 40,000 but no point.
Complete set of 8 pads for the front 62 quid, not bad I suppose.

Just one question Steve, did he deserved to be nicked?

Take a look at Steve Parry's threads about his 1200GT, it's like Triggs broom.
