in answer to phmode, in a field or farmyard the speed is below when the steering assist kicks in... think it's 15 mph...maybe 20, as for the mountain....it's just too shiny and i haven't got the heart to do it.
as for electric, i think there is a lack of charge points outside the big cities/towns. brother has had a plug in hybrid for a while now and his biggest gripe is chargers not working...or disappearing ocassionaly. afew years ago the powers that be decided if a charger wasn't being used enough they uprooted it and placed it in a different site...so the small town chargers headed to big towns. that said they are more common now.
i don't see them as able to replace the i.c.e yet ...for haulage and distance work any way, cities could be the exception but going from country area to country area they aren't a realistic replacement.... yet.
electric motors are by and large similar, more poles, brushless even bearingless one now but i don't see major improvements there, batteries could be where its at.... thats a job for smart people.
anywho.. hope new zealand is nice, great to be where there are no snakes !!

that steering thing is horrible. new defender has it and it's not made for narrow country roads.... it will definitely keep you alert, but not in a nice way. landrover in their wisdom haven't left an "off" option. you can switch it off but when you stop and start the car again it's back on by default.
you don't remember this until it gives you another horror moment jerking the car towards the other side of the road as it thinks the hedge, trees..whatever is too close. it is unnerving to say the least.
i used all my computer training and tech savy to look up where the cameras where at and put insulating tape over them...problem solved. i'm thinking of selling this "fix" to landrover so don't tell them.

yeah, just had a read of the manual, couple of tips for high coolant temperature, nothing else..nothing.
reminds me of when i first wanted to check my oil level..... it was much to stupid to ask anyone and took about a week before i found the oil level guess pipe.

points for everyone...almost.
it was a much better day than the photo suggests.... perfect riding weather really, very unlike the day before.
we gambled on good weather from 1st sept but were about 3 hours out.
headed off about 10.30ish , roads were drying fairly well but sky didn't know what to do. half an hour in it decided, rain. wet gear on and really it wasn't too bad. couple of hours later we stopped to eat just on the far side of cavan, sun out..yeah.
after a decent roast beef dinner the sun wasn't just shining it was really warm, thus the wet gear stayed in the bag it was put in after dinner.
ten mins later....the heavens opened... buggar, stopped in a petrol station and topped up and put on the wet gear again. it was a present and well made and heavy and everyone got a laugh at me putting it on.
we hung about awhile ...looking for a bank (to late)or money changer for one of the guys and of course it dried up. we gave up but i cleverly decided the weather had settled and suit off again. at the other end of the same town we spotted a post office and while my ridding buddy was in there it started to rain again...suit back on. weather did mend up a wee while later but the suit was now staying on.
we travelled down through the middle off ireland....not our usual coast route and while bits of it were ok the coast is better for roads, scenery...pretty much everything.
stayed in lisdoonvarna that night, first night of the lisdoonvarna festival. fair crowd about but but apparently it gets busier as the month goes on. a lot of immigrants there and one of the hotels is closed to house them... this a thing on the west coast, accommodation is an issue, we used to rock up to a place and stay if we liked it, no more. anyone thinking about visiting book ahead.
next day, fuzzy heads all of to fr teds house on craggy island (not an island). it's in the burren national park. nice trip ,the fields of stones catch the eye...90% (my guess) of the houses are built from natural stone.
burren national park and teds house  get a vote from me.
lisdoonvarna festival, it's worth seeing, but not worth going to see, as they say round here.
then back up the west coast, our prefered run. heads cleared, warm but not hot, good umm progressive run back up to donegal....this is a great run for any visitors. you can do scenery, history or just give the bike it's head and enjoy the roads.
then home and waffel about it.

if this has worked....big maybe.
the socket is 40mm deep and has a 1/2 drive or 20(i think - not important)mm hex head for a spanner, so if you have 40mm clearance it will work with a spanner.

fair play....thats horrible!!
that said i think (repeat think) the cup socket would work there, it's pretty thin and"if" you could get it on you can turn it with a spanner.
what sort of distance do you have from filter to bracket?
i might try to take a pic of one of these sockets but hopefully someone smarter than me will have a set and post it first.

i bought a full set of oil filter cup sockets of the bay....other places sell them too.... about 20 quid delivered, about 18 or so sockets. i haven't used them all yet but they have covered every oil filter i've needed them for.
k13 is probably the simplest, no removal of anything else. simply approach the filter with the socket and your choice of lever and remove the filter

Kit Reviews / Re: Schuberth C3 Pro and SRC System Pro...

not much help for you but i looked at the c5 myself, the change to senna comms put me off....the price didn't help either...all my squad have cardo systems so that is kinda set in stone and buying a dear helmet with existing wiring to butcher a different comm into it does not make sense to me.
i believe the c5 has the antenna built in but thats not what you were asking.
from reading the internet...not experience the c3 pro should have a built in antenna, the c3 does does not.
i'm interested in your views on the c3 built in scala set up as this has tempted me on a couple of occasions but i just never bit the bullet.
