If you were thinking about transplanting cruise control from GT to S bear in mind that the actuator fits under the shelf that the ABS Pump is mounted to right in the way of that second air snorkel fitted to the S on the left hand side.

I think it’d be easier to fit the Shift Assist from the S to the GT than it would be to fit the Cruise Control from the GT to the S although some poor soul got shot down in flames for pursuing the former question in here way back in 2016 ISTR…

The throttle on a K13 isn't 'fly by wire', so as well as the switch gear you'd need the cruise control actuator. You'd need to mount it somewhere, sort out the electrical connections, connect the extra throttle cable from the actuator to the throttle body then convince the ECU that there is such a thing as a K13S with cruise control. I'd be very surprised if that cruise control switch on the K13S actually does anything.

So, the original switch gear did the BMW usual and gave up the ghost. The owner got a quote for new switch gear and almost died of a heart attack! A search for second hand parts revealed that working K1300S switch gear was rarer than rocking horse poo, but there was the switch gear form a K1300GT available ...

Just a guess!

The left hand switchgear looks the same as mine but the right hand grip is missing the heated riders seat switch although you can see the outline where the switch would be.

Hope that helps?

Thanks & kind regards,

Pretty sure it's off a GT. Here's an image from Autotrader:

Hi All,

Browsing through eBay (dangerous pastime) I found this K1300S.

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/116196658490?itmmeta=01J0K589377QXTWASNFDDQ96R3&hash=item1b0ddc4d3a:g:hz0AAOSwx~hmVJ1U&itmprp=enc%3AAQAJAAAA4OnD9mfS7Tk0XdJF5g37ajp1b2l6vmZpwQUyOKc%2FAsN3%2Bs19CeOsWp4DWvRluOnLcPlHf%2F8EyhjeCuwb7koxADVPZoHcgplqdlEX5iq1%2BgAznk0HdrSgFN%2BTDCLVMfYGDeVQq5QvKl8Je0IUTuFOMnSGlVmadCw6JgG7IMiLJ35mzLxkAtRmCaB%2B4GPtsry7ggUoOMGVtdUXzBWz9pDbw3DJ%2FKrvqQ8xB5re5jwc%2BIa7Tp7CSv8Z7ca244q2PB6FVt9BDPR%2BxqRYLmRMJg7xu81Z2dp28pmTo8AFUe2dUotC%7Ctkp%3ABk9SR9iRoeWEZA

The last photo shows the LH switchgear with a Cruise control function and also adjustable screen.  I don't believe that K1300S ever had cruise, and am guessing that this is a situation of failed switch gear replaced with a second hand switch from a GT.  The switch in the photo also seems to have an adjustable screen.  Can any of you GT owners confirm this, and has anyone ever heard of the GT cruise being substituted onto an S?

Yep I'm starting to agree on the chain/driveshaft front. I was hesitant, but now, after two pretty large 3-4,000 mile trips I've mostly ignored it and been fine, longevity wise and not worrying about it failing (like happened twice with the driveshaft on the K (connected. They didn't fix it properly the first time. Thanks guys.)).

And my pain in the bottom sprocket and chain replacement could have been outsourced to KTM or whomever for only an hour or so labour, so realistically the burden is little. Be sensible and add the scotoiler thing and it's even better times.

I did see a guy waxing his chain at least twice on our trip, but he probably has that thing... that condition... pride in one's belongings! Phew, not caught that :P. Oh, I did give mine a half arsed spray, but if KTM aren't going to fit a centre stand on a touring bike, i'm not about to start rolling it backwards and forwards.

p.s. I want a H2.

Blimey, the Motorsport in the middle must have had a support van as there is no luggage to be seen anywhere on it... ;)
