I've used hammerite quite a bit. Get everything very clean, use a primer, and apply in warmer temperature as it seems to bond better and flow to a better finish. I've put pictures up on my k1200 thread

Sounds a good plan! I can't make it but I do have this place in my list of decent places:

The Buccleuch Arms Hotel in Moffat. I think it's a bikey place maybe!

Used to be my local when I lived in moffat.

There are so many excellent 20 year old bikes out there that buying new for most of us over 40 is questionable. Those top end sportsbikes you lusted after but couldnt afford in your 20s? For example a good 2005 GSXR 1000 reliably poking out 150 to 160bhp can be had for £5k and goes faster and handles better than most people can handle and is cheaper to maintain . Why would you fork out 15 to 20k for a new bike if the pennies have to be counted?  Even on finance.

Cruising on the bike and in the car at +10%+2mph a30 m5 m6 m54 seen more and more vans average speed cameras and fixed cameras somehow no tickets for 4 years.
However the days of averaging 70+ to and from London are long gone, even at zero dark 30.

The only time my k12 has refused to turn over was because the crank position sensor had failed

Am also interested, was thinking of buying one of those Clark CML3 lifts but this looks neater. My only comment is that it might be worth making the base plate larger to give some extra stability against tipping.

Please stop posting these horribly attractive bike photos.  I always thought these were clever bikes since they were launched and had to put both hands in my pockets and leave my phone at home last month when that one was advertised.

Apparently the word beer is used in over 100 languages, so I have managed fairly well  on my various travels to date. Billy Conolly also explains how 2 other Anglo saxon words seem to have universal understanding but this is a family show so I'll not go there just now...

Just pulled the rear brake pads. 80% worn? Umm read shagged out. Only 9700 miles. New pads in. Good spot from Ocean thankyou. They are really awkward to look at if the bike isnt up on a lift. Just need to put all the fairings back on now.
