Be interesting to see how BM go about production, with this Covid lark, had a conversation this weekend about how bike production would be based on punters going into a dealer paying deposit and they build the bike.

Thats how it works with cars. I used to make car seats, headliners and carpets in Tamworth. Carpets for Jaguar in particular are customised for a particular vehicle (colour, mat, RHD/LHD, Manual/Auto).  This is all driven by JIT manufacture.  I don't know if BMW do this for bikes but they will have all the manufacturing systems for it.

Possibly posted here before, but well worth a watch if you're interested in the assembly process

BM wasn’t the manufacturer I had in mind, but in reality applies too all of them, we are certainly living in strange times that is for sure, start of Covid early 20 went and bought two high spec electric mountain bike, we’ve done over 3000 miles on them in just over 18 months went into the shop recently enquiring about a 22 model...not a chance they haven’t had any stock since earlier in the year.

So yea motorcycle manufacturers building bikes for stock? No chance.
