Title: Pirelli Angle GT
Post by: Ady00 on February 14, 2017, 04:47:27 pm
Hello
Will be needing new tyres soon and fancy giving these a go, I have a k13r and I like hooning around on twisty A and B roads I don't go much for motorways and do go away on her but I'm not a committed touring type I also come in at 11 stone with my riding kit on (wet) so..... will the standard GT's be ok or do I need the one's for heavy bikes? I'm a bit bewildered by the choices if I m being honest or if anyone can point me in the right direction of someone who works for Pirelli etc who can advise I would appreciate it,

Thanks.......Ady

I'd say you will be best suited to the standard tyre as opposed to the (A) rated tyre which has stiffer side walls.

I was told that I needed type A for my K1300S. I'm on my second set.

I previously used PR3s but found that Pirelli Angel GTs kept their profile better and lasted longer.

Correct. It's 'A' you need.
It's the bike that's heavy, not the rider.

You'll find Angels are pretty good. Far better <than> this rider.

It's tyre time shortly and after 2 sets of Metzeler Roadtec thingies I'm going to try these Angels this time I reckon.  Before those I was on PR3 and PR4 for however long. Fun!

Oooo - good value, even if you added £20 per tyre for fitting. (I'm assuming they're not fitted, right?)
Where from, Tom?

I have ordered them from Pneus Online. Normally I check the pprice on the web and then ring Bob's Tyres. Bob can usually get them in for a couple of quid more but this time the best he could do was £30 dearer.  He can't get them for the price I paid and to supply only he makes £8.

I decided to start fitting my own tyres when I got the K1200S and had visions of a tyre fitter smashing a tyre pressure monitor. Have heard of many cases where this has happened.

I like to keep a spare rear wheel with with a brand new tyre on it. Always like to start a tour with good tyres. How many of us have gone on hols and come back with bald/illegal tyres?

Thinking of getting Angel GT front & Angel GT A rear for my 1300GT - found the front for £80.65, rear for £101 DELIVERED!

There is an Angel GT II listed - presume this is a new version? Not an A version but £133.

Yup, extra £7. Still a v good bargain:

Maybe a new version is dropping the older tyres price?
(Edit: the Angel II doesn't seem to come in a large range of sizes, so maybe not. Or not yet, anyway.)

Me too.

I do my car tyres and off-road bike tyres as well. Fitting Bib mousses into a 120/18 enduro tyre is about the most difficult I've found so far.

I used Pirelli Angel GT's on my Kawasaki 1400 GTR and Versys 1000  and have nothing but good to say about them. Good grip, long life and warm up quickly.

There are a few threads about Angel Gts and they all come to the same conclusion  ;)
I have tried a couple of tyres since the Angels GTs, Avon Spirit ST and Bridgestone T30 Evos both good and more than adequate tyres.
However weighing up performance, cost and mileage I think I'll be going back to the Angel GTs at the next tyre change. The extra mileage outweighs the extra cost.

Ditto. I'm running a pair of Metzeler Roadtec 01 at the moment (I was tempted by a £40-50 saving).
They're good, but not quite as good in terms of feel in the dry as the Angel GT A pairs that I've had previously.

I'll probably be going back to Angels too.

What do you mean with this (A), Rae ? I'm right now looking for tyres too (probably in another size, but then again), and see these 2 :

https://www.bandenleader.be/motor-band/pirelli/angel-gt/180-55-zr17-73w-87186
I guess the second one is the (A) you're talking of, but I don't know what the difference between the 2 is meant to mean ?

Sudolea,

The A means there are 2 radial plys (plies?) in the tyre, not 1, so it has stiffer carcase for heavier bikes (recommended for the S and GT).

Alltyres365 is cheaper. On looking further, they are actually a German company but deliver to the UK.

What I particularely like about the Pirelli Angel GT is that it lasts well and somehow maintains it's profile even when it is coming to the end of it's life.

Guess what, front end slow puncture on Monday. Was needing a new front anyways. But a susaul i seem to start the year with a bloody puncture.
Set of New Roadtec 01 for 260 fitted. For some reason could not get the GTa cheaper? Do we need the 58w or 75w for the K1300S??
Title: Re: Pirelli Angle GT
Post by: TomL on February 28, 2019, 10:34:32 pm
Tyres for the K1300S are 120/70 ZR17 M/C 58W front and 190/55 ZR17 M/C 75W rear.

58W and 75W are the load index and speed rating. Very important.

Will ensure  check this before getting them fitted. Normally take garage word for it. However lessons learned etc.

Just ordered a pair of Angel GT A (reinforced) front and rear (120/70ZR17 and 180/55ZR17) for £189 delivered from www.tyreleader.co.uk

French company IIRC, I got my last pair there and delivery was OK apart from the Royal Mail. I was out when they tried to deliver so did they keep them at

A. My nearest Post Office (1 mile away)
B. The nearest sorting office ("only" 8 miles away)
C. A random sub-Post Office (10 miles away)?

Of course it was C......
