Shocked
« on: February 22, 2018, 07:52:59 am »
So last night I was driving home from work on the A483 dual carriageway in heavy traffic, when I was aware there was a van with one low beam out up my chuff there was nowhere to go, traffic was flowing at 70 I was keeping the 2 second rule distance from the car in front in the outside lane.

Tapped my brake and he backed off. 5 miles further on as I indicated to turn off he came right behind me flashing his headlights, at this point I was worried there maybe something wrong with my car so pulled over partly onto the verge on the sliproad. Van comes behind me, lights on full, I get out the car to meet a left hook that floored me. By the sound of the accent he sounded Irish traveller, a very tall, gym ripped late 20's early 30's lad, once on the floor I got a few kicks, not sure if his mate joined in too.

After a few kicks and punches they jumped back in the van, crossed the hatchings and rejoined the a483.

I took a note of their number long enough to repeat it to the police whom I called when I got back into the car. They said an officer would come to my home to take further details, waited until 10pm and no one turned up.

My daughter dragged me to hospital, despite my misgivings about A&E nowadays, triage nurse said they wanted to check me out further but warned there was a long wait, I said "what 4 or 5 hours" she said no much longer than that so I guess at least 6 to 8 hours, so I went home.

Feeling very sore and vulnerable today.

That is awful! I hope your injuries are minor, not too painful and heal quickly.  I hope the police catch the scum (though I doubt that they will.)

That really is dreadful. I can well imagine how such an assault leaves you vulnerable and apprehensive. I hope your bruises and confidence are healed soon.

Steve, that's dreadful. I can't reiterate the bit about the camera enough. It's a bugger when you have to resort to this sort of stuff but with the two police officers we have left in UK, it might be all we have.

I would follow up the lack of response with a call to 111, a visit to the local station assuming you have one in Wales and/or a call to your Police & Crime Commissioner. Lack of response for a car accident is one thing, lack of response for an assault occasioning actual bodily harm is another thing altogether.

Have a dram or 6 on me. In fact, I think I'll join you  8)

Oh my goodness, that's absolutely unbelievable. Poor you Steve :( :( You must have been mistaken for someone else surely it was not simply a random pointless attack? Regardless ,it was disgusting and horrible.

Certainly not a good night for you Steve. Assault followed by no response from the police and a poor A&E service.

Very important to put in a complaint to the chief constable about their poor reaction to something as serious as ABH. You should at least have had a phone call explaining why they didn't turn up. Pretty poor show.

Hope you make a full and quick recovery and that the thugs get their comeuppance.
