Winter's arrived in North Wales :)
« on: December 09, 2017, 06:51:35 pm »
Took a peek out at 6:30 am this morning and decided the GS wasn't doing the commute to work today

Then looked at the lane outside the house and decided neither was the car ....... sat in all day, the local council list the lane into the village as a "priority route"

One gritter has just gone passed, that's the first one in two days of heavy snow, and tomorrow's given 8 inches at this altitude (I'm near the Horseshoe Pass)

Aw that makes me miss my Wales days. Getting snowed in was great! So many hills to sledge/cycle down too :).

Like most who live in the mountains I have the good sense to stay indoors when it's grim :)

I live in Gwynfryn which is immediately adjacent to Bwlchgwyn which, incorrectly, signposts itself as Wales' highest village

The highest is in South Wales but Bwlchgwyn is the highest in North Wales, as such we get it bad at times :D

My sympathies! We had 29 flakes here today but it rarely got above freezing.

Nipped to the shops this afternoon and the huge puddles in the nearside verge had been splashed up over the hedges and frozen into enormous and rather gorgeous icicles. If it hadn't been on a really nasty bend I might have done a David Bailey...

OK!

The relatives of the 29 flakes arrived overnight, all 37 quintillion of them. And they are still coming.

Herefordshire now officially snowed in, no passing traffic and looking at Google maps, we are not alone.

The entire motorway network around Birmingham and the midlands is closed. A417/419 closed so weekend visitor now here for the duration. She saw three gritters on that stretch on Friday evening so it is a big dump out there.

If Steve got this on The Horseshoe Pass then he won't be getting out till next April...
