Petition to make roads safer for bikers.
« on: February 15, 2018, 05:37:46 pm »
There is a petition on change.org by the mother of a young biker who lost his life in a SMIDSY 'T'-bone incident which we have all experienced or witnessed.

She is petitioning the government to introduce more awareness training in the driving test about other road users and awareness.

The petition can be found here...

https://click.mail.change.org/?qs=2d3c36a6f87d34cf27552bda7b694c037d94a5ddffd09e8cfd275cd54da2f0352d8e6feebb018ad6fb7af4f24f109598b60e577c50ce3677aa9ea8a476c040a9

...and despite the relative ineffectiveness of such things I felt compelled to support it. Perhaps you might too.

I do hope that the photo of the young lad on his bike with a bunch of flowers for his mum clutched in his brake hand is not how he used to ride  :o

Either way, a worthy cause in my opinion.

Brian (who is also guilty of riding wih something clutched madly in his brake hand, but it is his brake lever  8) )

I also don't normally sign E petitions but I said a long time ago that I think that car drivers should at least be a pillion for half an hour before letting them loose on the road.
Petition signed  :-*

Like Rae I don't normally sign petitions,  but I have signed this one.

I have signed this petition but hate the way my arm was twisted to sign ten other petitions. Never had to face that before and will probably not elect to sign another petition because of it. BTW I didn't sign any of the other petitions.

ironically the theory test includes what to do if you find a motorcyclist on the road and (whether to take his helmet off), but it doesn't test on how to prevent him or her being there in the first place

They even followed it up with an email asking me to do more.  >:(

Agreed. Like giving bread to a solitary pigeon (c.f. Paddington the Movie).

It won't stop me signing another petition of my choice (not theirs), but I was disappointed to see what purports to be a decent orginsation stooping to that level. Turns out it's a 'for profit' organisation. Hey ho.
