Other (K) Bikes or anything else! / wheel compatibility
« on: July 04, 2022, 12:53:42 pm »
this is a shot in the dark question..googled til my eyes got sore rang motorworks...googled some more.
will the wheels of an r9t fit a r1200rt? anyone know or tried?
i bought a r1200rt, nice low mileage emergency services on with slight damage and want to put wire wheels on it, this is not straightforward.
i think there was a wire wheel option for the r1200rt-p (proper title) but i can't seem to come across any.
any ideas guys?

The Euro K Club Lounge / black luggage
« on: November 10, 2021, 01:32:45 pm »
due to it approaching christmas and family insisting i need a present, i was thinking about a soft luggage option. i once bought an oxford tailbag...i thought it was tidy looking and functional but when i was beside the bike i didn't appreciate the effort required to tie it down.... thus i have an unused tailbag... however i do like the look of the bmw black collection tailbag.
does it have the slot underneath like the old bmw dry bag?
has anyone here got one on their k1300s.. is it simple to tie down?
failing that is the older bmw drybag easy to tie down?
surely there has to be a simple click in system for soft bags.... i was studying a small seat belt catch type system or even a tank bag lock on the rear carrier but more pressing stuff keeps cropping up.
thoughts please...

The Euro K Club Lounge / places to see and go ..suggestions
« on: July 04, 2021, 01:18:37 pm »
hi all, three of us are taking a trip on july 16, we intend getting a boat to scotland possibly heading to kirriemuir for a visit to bon scott's statue, then down through england onto wales and a boat to probably roslare and tour on up to home.
any good places to travel/visit on our tour?
we don't really do a very solid itinerary and prefer a wherever the wind takes us approach, however it would be good to have a few points of interest to pick up. also do any of you know if hotel walk ins are still a thing?
we don't really fancy any big cities but towns with a bit of "life" about them are desirable for evening rest stops.

does the screen from the k1200s fit the k1300s and vise versa?

K1200 / K1300 Forum / wunderlich bar riser
« on: February 25, 2021, 05:15:24 pm »
well as per title i just bought on a necessary whim a wunderlich top yoke to sort out my aching bones.
it's second hand, has the bottom clamps which bolts down to the toothed surface but not the top of the same clamps.
looks in good shape.
anyone done this as there are a couple of questions i have before i start.
are those top clamps a particular shape and even so will normal ones do?
did you have to lengthen brake or clutch pipes?
if so did you use the "joint" on the top yoke itself?
was the original yoke hard to remove?
what bar did you use ?
any and all advice appreciated guys

The Euro K Club Lounge / bike lift
« on: October 30, 2020, 11:42:52 am »
hi all, i thinking of getting a bike lift, just thinking mind but can't be arsed with getting up and down and rolling on the ground much more.
i looked at a few .. not many locally to look at mind but any i have seen or even studied in pictures simply don't fill me with confidence,
the abba stand looks ok...the fact some guys are sitting on the bike on the stand is good, and it can be raised front and rear to a good height is what i'm after, however the middle of the bike seems pretty low for oil changes etc.
i'm tempted to buy an old two poster car lift and convert it, it would have good height, be strong and if i engineered a folding platform would have a fairly small footprint. money wise i think it would be similar to most benches.
any thoughts ? what have you guys got?

K1200 / K1300 Forum / thoughts on servicing
« on: September 12, 2020, 10:23:55 am »
hi all, just want to gauge general opinion. i am due a service now and am wondering my best course of action. i have full dealer history from battersea (i think) bmw, but thats a long way away from me. my nearest...and only dealer does not have the greatest name for their work.
bike has approx 9000 miles and is not getting the use i intended.
do i service myself, random bike shop(with good name) or keep up the dealer service history.
what do you think?

Tyres / avon tried out.
« on: July 25, 2020, 04:53:49 pm »
just back from a good run on my new avons. bit of a tour of donegal which was cut short by horrible weather. anyway, did a bit over 150 miles on friday getting us well into the wilds of donegal, sky had looked a bit iffy but we were far.....very far from shelter of any sort when the heavens opened. we did another 50 or so miles on very wet roads and generally unpleasant conditions, got into a hotel and ,well stayed there. this morning was dry but sky still very overcast looking so we booted home as fast as our wee legs could take us.
so now tyres are well scrubbed in, great in the dry and confidence building in the wet. i'm very pleased i got the avons and that will probably be my next choice as well. not saying they're the only choice but anyone thinking of them but not sure, i don't think you'll fault them for their wet/dry performance.

Tyres / avon v the rest
« on: July 05, 2020, 02:21:37 pm »
tyre time is approaching and there seems to be no discussion anywhere on tyres....
just a quick picking of brains please....
was caught out once upon a time with a goosed tyre on a saturday pm and couldn't get a tyre of any make whatsoever but lucked into a friend appearing who was big into his racing bikes...cutting a long story short i was back on the road with a part worn avon 3d that evening, not disregarding the fact the tyre was a 160 instead of a 170 (bike was k1200rs) , it was also an impressive purple colour that i couldn't reproduce,
well the bike was totally transformed.... i thought i was happy with the bikes handling before but my gast was well and truly flabbered!
since then i've been an avon fan, however i see different tyres getting rave reviews here and the k1300s is a different animal so may not just handle the same. it came with metzelers , ok tyre but i see the avons as more 'me friendly" if that makes sense.
sooooo.... anyone running avon 3d storm on their bikes or even better anyone experienced avon and angle gt on the k13 (angel gt is the main one tempting me away but it's all decided by reading and i would prefer hands on experience)
mileage has no part in my decision...i want grip and confidence
price not very important up to a point.
also while i may have your attention i don't balance my wheels.... am i wrong? why?

K1200 / K1300 Forum / k1200rs heated grips....
« on: June 27, 2020, 06:06:02 pm »
hi all, fell in with some good panels and bits for my k1200rs so my bobber project has been "moved"(i really want to do it on a boxer engine anyway). one of the bits is a righthand heated grip which i didn't have as standard but alls there on the right hand side anyway however i can't find where the heated grip wire goes to... i have the connector box opened and the three usual connectors identified but no obvious sign of the factory connector. the heated grip wire is a lot shorter than the others and i'm suspicious it may not go into the box i'm looking at or needs another portion of loom. i'm getting to the feck it stage but i will have a lovely big heated grip switch in front of me doing nothing on cold days.
so does anyone have any info or PICS of the wiring for the grips...just the heating element from the grip to the wherever it goes bit.
thanks all
