Had a disheartening chat with a dealer recently,i was thinking of changing the bike for another K1600 or a S1000XR, so asked what my 63 plate trade in value would be, he contacted me a few days later to say that no motorcycle traders would bid on it so he couldn't give me a figure, my best bet was to put it on eBay , i find this not very confidence inspiring in BMW motorcycles when it comes to changing. I had no problem trading in my old ZZR1400.

Give me a call at Chester Motorrad next week, we deliver to Weston ;)

Already done a deal with Ducati. Thanks for the thought though.

Nice Duke - what other bikes were on your maybe list before you went all Italian on us...?

S1000XR, another K1600GT Sport, Yamaha MT10 Touring. The S1000Xr was the favourite for a long time, even had a test ride and a quote for a brand new one in Motorsport colours, but in the end i was seduced by the Duke, and its kind of hard to say why exactly there was just something about it that the S1000XR didn't have.

Very nice looking bike John and the matching coloured jacket to suit.  ;)

Sheer coincidence as this is my oldest leather jacket , had it 7 yrs , it matched my GSX750F at the time.

The K1600 (aka The USS Enterprise) has gone, may her new owner whoever that may be have as much fun on her as i did.
She could show a sports bike up on the right occasion and was limousine style comfy all day.
She has toured (though not enough in my opinion) and tracked (probably too much) and even been in a blog post on 44 teeth.com complete with picture.
I am sure i will miss her a lot but i won't necessarily miss the 332Kg that she weighed even if she did sip fuel like a miser.

I have loved my BMW experience , personally i have found it cheaper to run than my old ZZR1400, little things like getting a 10% discount off my 12,000 mile service because it was my birthday that day really give the added value and the fact that for me the warranty was solid gold is something i am going to miss, i am expecting the Duke to be a bit more expensive to run but not as bad as it used to be with 9000 mile service intervals, the 18000 mile is still an ouch moment though due to the valve check but that is atlas 3 years away for me .

Well the big K is soon moving on in the end. My local BMW dealer couldn't get me a trade in price so I went to the dealer who sold it to me, they gave me a trade in deal from one of their trade contacts of £7000, I already had an offer from we buy any bike of £7100. I was hoping for at least 8000. In the end they readily agreed to just discount a new or used bike by £1000 to make the figures work but and it's a big but as I am going into the big unknown Ducati offered me £8500 plus a discount on a 5 month old Multistrada 1200S touring package ex demo bike. So I have now had 4 ,6 and soon a 2 cylinder bike..

You could try advertising it on this forum. It's where I bought my K.

Do we have a classified section on the site i can't see it.

Starting to think breaking the bike down might be an idea, £5000 for the engine is half price a new one and with all the other bits it's worth more in secondhand parts than a trade in I would have thought.
