It seems a shame to sell the R90, I sold my R 100S fifteen years ago and still regret it. Is it possible to keep two bikes?

It ran fine today, but today was quite cold. Let's see how it behaves in warmer weather.

What's going on with the attitude towards mileage on motorcycles now days?
My bikes currently running 31000 miles and I would consider that low mileage for a nine year old bike, certainly it would be very low for a car of similar vintage.
My last bike,a Kawasaki 650, had done just over 4000 miles in nine months and the dealer said he considered that quite high for a new bike.
My car,Honda CRV,in contrast has done 38000 miles in two and a half years.
Am I wrong in thinking that a modern engine should be capable of clocking up 100,000 miles in its lifespan or am I being naive?
Finally what mileage have your bikes done and would a high mileage put you off buying a second-hand bike?

Got my bike back today. The dealer repaired the back brake and cleaned the radiator,so I will see how it goes over the next month. At least they acknowledged that it was a dirty radiator and didn't charge labour . They only charged for a new set of brake pads.
Where can I buy a fender extender?

Thanks for that. I might have a go myself,I've bought myself some condenser cleaner to spray on first and will report back if I find it useful.

Exactly,I couldn't sell it with a clear conscience anyway.
The most comfortable bike I've ever ridden, effortless power and pride of ownership. It's is even easy to ride slowly in traffic and car parks.

I think, that it could be a good idea to let the dealer have a go. It might be teathing problems for me.
It's is going to be BMW dealer only from here on in though. I'm no mechanic, however I do know when someone is trying to fob me off.
I will report back.

The bikes' back brake seized up two miles from home today, leaving me stranded. I think it's time to say goodbye to it.
I've only had it ten weeks and was just bonding with it. I covered just over a 1000 miles in that time.To add insult to injury the dealer accused me of riding with the brake pedal on.

Yes,it seems that last year the bike had two owners, each only keeping the bike a few months.  I really should have paid more attention, I think they Must have had the same experience.
It can be fixed however. It's just a bit annoying that's all.

The third owner is myself though, still suspicious however.
It makes me feel better knowing that a new radiator is guaranteed for two years. Today was murder the weather was unseasonably hot and it ruined the riding experience.

The dealer has agreed to investigate free of charge. I have noticed going through the service book that this bike has had five owners. Three of them in the last year.
You never know Vic the "mechanic" might be right and you lot wrong. "Nowt wrong with that mate, running sweet as a nut"!

Yes,the fan works ok and the coolant level is fine. Thanks for the advice you have been great.
I think I will phone up a proper BMW specialist today and report back. I do have the extended warranty, not that helps much in this case.

I might have to bite the bullet and take it to a BMW dealer,or find some independent mechanic who knows about BMWs.

It's the rad. I bet the "key speed" is about 40mph. Below it overheats. Above it's fine.
Correct, anything below say 30 is worrying. When I showed the mechanic the bike the temperature was about midway. A few minutes at trickier and it climbed up. I think the radiator was dodgy when I got the bike and I failed to notice because the weather has been so cool. My commute includes about 15 minutes urban riding.
The mechanic says he sometimes disconnects thermostats. I have doubts about his ability.
