Hello from Brackley
« on: January 24, 2019, 07:12:47 pm »
Evening all,

Just a quick hello from me. Bought myself a 2009 K1300GT this week and it’s getting delivered next week. Very excited for the delivery day. Had a Honda Firestorm for 7 years, fab bike but fuel range was horrendous and a few years ago I tore and prolapsed 2 dics so riding position even with raised bars was uncomfortable.
Pics of both bikes below - firestorm pics are huge but no idea how to scale them down in my phone.

Z

Firstly welcome!

Secondly, congrats on adding pictures in the your first post. That gets you an 'applaud' from me.

Thirdly, you're only about 15 miles away from me, so if you need any help or a ride out just shout.

Hello and welcome.

It's great to see a FireStorm. I had a 1998 one from new that I really enjoyed for a number of years. I fitted the 24l Harris tank to make the bike more suitable for touring which gave it a more realistic range.

I did a number of trips on it including the South of France with the Old Gits in 2002, as seen here:

I eventually got a K1200S and sold the FireStorm to a friend who then used it for a couple years:

Here, touring on it with the Old Gits in France, near Limoges.

He, in turn, bought a K1300S and sold the FireStorm to a mutual friend who still has it and digs it out of the shed for a sunny Sunday afternoon run every now and again.

That bike has never failed to put a grin on the face of everyone who rides it.
Correct rear brake use is scientifically proven to shorten stopping distances in EVERY road situation.

Hi Mat(t) and welcome to the madhouse that is EuroKClub!

Being a sedentary septuagenarian, I had to Google the username  :o

So, was that a nod to the Streetfighter models based on the early CB750/900's or am I smoking too much?

...stuff...

Damn, do places still make larger tanks? Pretty much every bike I see I think, "hmm if only it had a bigger tank!"

Oh yeah and welcome Zangief!
