For Sale / Wanted / 2014 K1300R dynamic for sale
« on: August 20, 2021, 12:15:08 pm »
So the time has come to get real and sell my K. I've had it from new and basically i've hardly ridden it, at present it has 2811 miles on it. It has the factory fitted alarm system (hardly used) and the usual handbook, 2 keys etc.
It has had a new battery this year as my float charger got turned off by accident in 2019 and the bike didn't come out of the shed due to work commitments and some sort of pandemic until I had its MOT'd April this year which it passed..
It has also had a new rear tyre after it ingested a 2" wheel weight, I think i put pictures in here somewhere.

So the bad news is it only had the first service after running in by BMW, after that I did an annual engine oil change 2016-2019. It has not had anything done to it since, so final drive, brake fluid, clutch fluid is the same, but at less than 3000 miles except for the hydroscopic nature of brake fluid the fluids haven't really been stressed. Oh the bar ends have chips on them.
I did a 120 odd mile trip on it end of July and everything feels like new.

I have no real reference of what price to put it up for, there's about 5 on Autotrader, but i would like at least £6500

Here is a link to it today after it came out of the shed.. Assuming the link works.

Just wanted to say thanks to a great forum, even though it disappeared and re-emerged under a different URL. But despite them trying to evade me i found it posted a few times then I vanished for nearly 2 years.
Thanks for the help in previous years and i hope to try and pop in now and then to see whats new.

So Friday i brushed off the cobwebs and rode up to London for a usual get together with old work friends. Checked into one of Premier Inns finest, changed rooms twice because the Air Con didn't work then rode over to a friends, on the way I heard the bang of what sounded like a stone being pinged out from under the wheel.
Almost instantly the back end wobbled, luckily i was doing about 15mph and then the hazard symbol on the dash warning me i had 0 psi in the rear tyre. I rode it about a 1/4 mile to a friends house, that was fun, where i parked it up and went out to have a good time to drown my sorrows. Next day I went back to my friends house and called Barclays who i have breakdown, travel insurance, gadget cover etc. with.

I'm now talking to the RAC who take my details, I inform them I'm going to need recovery because it cannot be repaired and that I've ridden it so probably wrecked the sidewalls anyway, I'm told it can be up to 2 hours, after the call I receive a text from them so I'm thinking all is good.. Nearly 3 hours later nothing has happened, no one has called  >:( I call them again, wondering what is happening, they tell me they are busy, I explain again I need recovery where I'm questioned why, I tell them again and they replied "Oh right well I'll talk to our technical department, we had you down for a normal patrol visit" >:( >:(
2 minutes later they call back agreeing i can have recovery and now i have a 3rd party breakdown coming to pick me up, which arrive in 30 minutes in a truck you could nearly fit a stretched limo on, who take me home.

The only two good things that happened is I saved about 65 miles worth of fuel and i received a questionnaire on how did the RAC did.. I was a good boy and didn't swear on any of the comments boxes.
The wheel is off now and I just need to source a local garage to replace it and once back together I'll wrap it all back up again until next summer, bloody bikes not worth the hassle ;D

The Euro K Club Lounge / Led headlight issues?
« on: January 26, 2019, 02:02:14 pm »
Folks, for those who have upgraded to LED headlamps and mainly to those who have it fitted as a main beam, do you find it OK?
I ask because i had a hire car recently fitted with LED's and on main beam the light didn't carry as far as my normal cars Xenons, but very annoyingly when the main beam hit a road sign (assuming the sign was clean) the reflection was blinding and very off putting.

K Club Humour / New Gloves
« on: December 20, 2018, 06:47:10 am »
A young man called Chris from London wanted to buy a Christmas present for his new girlfriend. They hadn't been seeing each other for very long and she lived in Scotland. Chris consulted with his sister and decided, after careful consideration, that a pair of good quality gloves would strike the right note... not too romantic and not too personal. Off he went with his sister to Harrods and they selected a dainty pair of fur lined quality leather gloves. His sister bought a pair of sexy knickers for herself at the same time. Harrods had a free gift wrap offer but the assistant mixed up the two items, the sister got the gloves and Chris unknowingly got the knickers. Good old Chris sent off his gift wrapped present in a parcel with the following letter.

Dear Maggie,
I chose these because I've noticed that you are not wearing any when we go out in the evenings. If it had not been for my sister I would have chosen the long ones with buttons, but she wears shorter ones (which are easier to remove). These are a very delicate shade, but the lady I bought them from showed me the pair she had been wearing for the past three weeks and I hardly noticed any marks. I had her try yours on for me and she looked really smart in them even though they were a little bit tight on her. She also said that they rub against her ring which helps keep it clean. In fact she hasn't needed to wash it since she began wearing them.
I wish I was there to put them on for you the first time, as no doubt many other hands will touch them before I have a chance to see you again.
When you take them off remember to blow into them a little bit because they will be naturally a little damp from wearing.
Just imagine how many times my lips will kiss them during the coming year.
I hope you will wear them for me on our next date.
All my love,
Chris
P.S. My mum tells me that the latest style is to wear them folded down with a little bit of fur showing.

Did anyone watch this weeks episode showing the multi-vehicle pile up where several folk lost their lives (I don't think any motorcyclists were involved)? It happened December 2017.

It certainly hit home to me what paramedics go through and as stated in the show they have more sufferers from PTSD than the armed forces, I can certainly see why after that.

Non of my kids work for the health service but I could imagine the pain of having your young paramedic daughter call you in the middle of the night crying after what she went through..  :'(

I have always had a high respect for the good folk who are out there patching people up, I know one, but this episode certainly reinforced that.

*AHEM* back to stiff upper lip mode..

Part of an article i copied from Drivetribe about the Bugatti Chiron

It's big, heavy, has a W16 engine with four turbos, and can do a walloping 1,500 HP. We knew this wasn't going to end well as far as the EPA rating was concerned, right? It's not like you're buying the Chiron for its excellent mileage; in fact, it's quite the opposite. You might as well be in a contest to see which car can get the lowest mileage.

According to the Environmental Protection Agency, the Bugatti Chiron returns, wait for it, 9 MPG in the city and 14 MPG on the highway for a combined rating of just 11 MPG.

Using this combined figure, the EPA estimates that the Chiron's fuel tank is good for only 100 miles at best on the 9.1-gallon fuel tank. That assuming you hypermile the crap out of this car, and who wants to do that? Not a Chiron owner, that's for sure.  :o

K Club Humour / AAADD.. Not me i hasten to add
« on: June 28, 2017, 07:38:03 pm »
Recently I was diagnosed with AAADD – that’s Age Activated Attention Deficiency Disorder

It manifests itself like this:

I decide to water the garden,

As I go to the garage to turn on the hose I look at my car in the driveway and realise it needs washing

So I go back into the kitchen and pick up my car keys, then I notice the post on the kitchen table that I had picked up from the hall earlier

I decide to go through the post before I wash the car

I lay my car keys on the table, sort out the bills and throw the junk mail into the bin that is sitting under the table.

I notice that the bin is full.

So I decide to put the bills back on the table and take out the bin.

Then I think since I’m going to the dustbin anyway I may as well pay the bills and post them in the post-box at the bottom of the lane.

I pick up my cheque book from the table and realise there is only one cheque left and that the new cheque book is in the desk in my study.

So I go into the study to my desk where I find the can of Coke I had been drinking earlier

I’m going to look for my cheque book, but I need to move the Coke somewhere safe so I don’t knock it over

I realise the Coke is now warm so I decide to put it in the fridge to cool off

As I head back towards the kitchen with my Coke a vase of flowers catches my eye, they need watering

I put the Coke on the kitchen counter and discover my reading glasses that I had been looking for all morning,

I decide I had better put them in my desk so I will know where they are, but first the flowers still need watering

I put the glasses back on the counter and fill a container with water

I suddenly spot the TV remote which someone has left on the kitchen table

I realise that we will need the remote when we come to watch TV tonight, but that I probably won’t remember that it’s on the kitchen table, so I decide to put it back in the lounge where it belongs

But first I must water the flowers

I pour the water into the vase, but quite a bit of it spills on the floor.

So, I put the remote back on the table and get some towels to wipe up the spill.

Then, I head down the hall trying to remember what I was planning to do.

At the end of the day:

The garden isn't watered
The car isn’t washed
The bills aren’t paid
The bin is still full
There is a warm can of Coke on the kitchen counter
The flowers don’t have enough water,
There is still only 1 cheque in my cheque book,
I can’t find the remote,
I can’t find my glasses,
I don’t remember what I did with the car keys.

Then, when I try to figure out why nothing got done today, I’m really baffled because I know I was busy all the damn day, and I’m really tired.

I realise this is a serious problem, and I’ll try to get some help for it, but first I’ll check my e-mail….

Do me a favour, forward this message to everyone you know, because I don’t remember who the hell I’ve sent it to.

Don’t laugh — if this isn’t you yet, your day is coming!!

K Club Humour / From a car site i frequent
« on: June 20, 2017, 10:15:06 pm »
Two Scousers are riding along the M62 from Manchester to Liverpool on a motorbike. They break down and start hitching a lift.
A friendly trucker stops to see if he can help and the scousers ask him for a lift. He tells them that he has no room in the wagon as he is carrying 20,000 bowling balls but will take a look at the bike for them.
He tries everything he knows but is unable to repair it. Time is getting on now and he's late for his delivery so he tells the scousers he has to leave.
“Hey, c’mon our kid,” they say, “gissa lift…”.
The trucker once again explains that he has no room as he is carrying 20,000 bowling balls.
The scousers put it to the driver that if they can manage to fit in the back with the bowling balls will he give them a lift. The driver agrees.
They finally manage to squeeze themselves and their motorbike into the back of the wagon so the driver shuts the doors and gets off on his way.
By this time he is really late and so puts his foot down. Sure enough the police pull him up for speeding.
One of the officers asks the driver what he is carrying to which he replies “Scouse Eggs”. The policeman obviously doesn’t believe this so wants to take a look. He opens the back door and quickly slams it shut and locks it.
He gets onto his radio and calls for immediate backup from as many officers as possible.
The dispatcher asks what emergency he has that requires so many officers. “I’ve got a wagon with 20,000 Scouse eggs in it – two have already hatched and the bastards have managed to nick a motorbike already”.

I've been having a play with the GS911 after servicing the bike (Takes more oil then my daughters Yaris 1.5 T-Sport and the oil filter is bigger).
I reset the service counter and updated the time and date to my laptop.
It gives me the option to change the TPM from Bar to PSI and economy to UK mpg etc.. If i go through and change them it still shows it in metric. I tried changing the ambient air temperature from Celsius to Fahrenheit and that worked ok, so I'm not quite sure why I can't have the the tyres pressures in English.

I'm doing this on a MacBook but i can't see that making any difference

Any ideas please

SWMBO must never find out either
As I am now doing all my own servicing. I bit the bullet and bought a GS-911, (enthusiast version I'm not loaded like most of the people in here)  :P

Next job is to work out how to use it, if it's anything like deciphering repROM I'm in for a world of confusion.
Feel free to change my flag colour on the map
