James Sherlocks bolts turned up this morning so I bolted the new discs onto the grey front wheel. The Hammerite on the wheel carriers got a second coat and I started on the rear swinging arm. The further away you stand the better it looks, but its better than crusty unpainted alloy. Ocean Falmouth are too busy and have a tech on holiday to swap the tyres over till next week, so I'll stick the silver wheel in so I can take the bike out for a wash once the simple green turns up. If it ever stops raining / sleeting / howling :(

I've heard people whisper that near me before now.

Seeing as storm Kathleen is either trying to wash us away, or blow us away, I finished off the hammerite and did a dry brush of the radiator before trying the simple green. Its still pretty blocked even though its not that long since it was in the dish washer

Oh and accidentally bought another radiator which was allegedly the last new one at bmw sycamore. Haven't seen any new ones elsewhere recently although I haven't searched exhaustively. Still, would rather be looking at it than looking for it.

17 sold, 2 left.
Ha. I'm pretty sure when Brian and I bought one each back last year there were just 5.

Mind you, the price is still 'reasonable' if you consider secondhand ones are £250-300.
And there's a 10% off coupon. Code is 'SPROUT10'. Apply at checkout, blah blah.
I'm guessing from the name that's a Spring thing.

Got the old silver wheel  in and got the bike outside to wash the radiator with simple green and the 90degree jet wash widget. I'm not sure how much debris was due to each agent, but I tried to catch the debris on a cloth. It certainly wasn't wow! about the simple green. I can now see the lines of brake dust/tyre fragments up the radiator again. So yeah a lot of dirt has come out but nothing spectacular

There are some seriously large holes now where fins used to be so I'm not holding out much hope that it's going to have enough cooling capacity left. Anyway will be a few days till the tyres are swapped. And I have the name of someone who may be able to get the broken drill bit out.

"It looked fine till I cleaned it boss..."
Yet to go out for a run to see if it actually cools anything

So hammeriting finished, new discs on the grey front wheel, radiator cleaned, bit of a wash and brush up. Need to go for a ride tomorrow and see if what's left of the radiator works.

A Bank Holiday afternoon spent on the bike on sunny dry roads without too much traffic in Cornwall? Shome mishtake shurely? Well whatever time and space warp I was in this afternoon had a beneficial effect to on the bike. Did about a 100 miles , a bit of a thrash up the a39 to Bude,  across to Launceston, and a steady cruise back along the A30. The radiator behaved itself in temperatures up to 17 C and for a 40 minute 80mph  cruise. Fuel economy up too. So feeling pleased with myself that all the fettling has helped

I'm sure it is the warm weather that gets everything working better; my fan cuts in just before it gets to 5 bars while stationary but it now runs all day at 3 bars with the occasional 4 showing, my vision has stayed steady at one road ahead and having found a great riverside pub with even greater food today was almost too good to be true.

And here's the detail, in case you dreamt it, Brian:
