Ever since I got pulled by an unmarked car that was sitting at the top of the sliproad as I went through (funnily enough after a long journey to see my Mum and was nearly home) I always back off a bit through junctions and look up the sliproads .
Moral of the stories obviously if your visiting your mum go on the train

Hey Brian tell them what the coppers did when we come passing by their speed trap doing 150kms.......
And the other good news are that all fixed speed cameras are inoperable except the ones on the closed freeway to the airport, for 4 years now, no one knows why and we are not so interested to know the reason.
Embrace the wind.

My last naughty boys school they hand you a questionnaire including "Why do you speed?"
My written answer,"because I like going fast",was not acceptable to the pompous little git in charge, who asked me to change it to something else.
I replied, politely,in the negative, whereupon the cheeky little sod started to harangue me and accused me of being ,"a born again biker"...oooh did I seethe...
When I asked him what he owned he said,"an SV650...only passed my test a year ago"...and this bloke was lecturing ME......ME....how very dare he....
Lifes a bitch. And then you die.

Speed awareness and road safety campaigns lost all credibility for me after the t.v. advert showing a car speeding in a town setting and then sliding under braking into a child crossing the road, all depicted in terrifying slow motion.

It was all going so well until one spotted that the Ford Orion's front wheels were locked solid, the tyres smoking with the stress, it's rear wheels still rotating merrily as it ploughed onward.

So, the message was all about speed? It should have been all about disconnected ABS systems and malfunctioning Brake Force Apportioning Valves! It is physically impossible to get a front-wheel drive Ford Orion to do what they were showing, and even my girlfriend saw straight through it.

If they are going to persist with the lie about speed causing accidents then they should explain why we are not ALL dead! Eventually they will realise that better training, heavily discounted insurance for advanced drivers and repeat testing are the only way forward.

Brian (who thinks, with a general election just around the corner, that it is a sure-fire vote winner  8) )

I am saddened by being on a forum with so many ex cons. Its is clear this is a club for miscreants run by Hoods. Sadly for me I suspect all the other forums for Bikers are the same, so for now I will stay and try and accept it. I will endeavour by example to try and return you all to a higher moral place.

Now Mr Jack sir you are either a very humble and upright citizen or you are taking the proverbials. I think it is the latter.

Your collective contrition is both humbling and uplifting, your warmth towards me is also apparent.  I am now going into a silent prayer fest for your souls !

Well JS, I am a prodigal returned to this new shiny flock where I first learned that:

The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the iniquities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. And that's just how I like it.

Seriously though when tinboxing, at home or abroad, I have faired less well than when mile-munching on my bike. Counter intuitive or what (rhet.). :)

To quote or not to quote that is the question? Whether 'tis nobler......and a welcome indeed BrendaN.
