Hello everyone, my names John and I'm a friend of Bobtails. Apart from that I'm fairly normal! I've known Bobtail for years and we've enjoyed some great rides including the Nurburgring which was incredible. I've had my eye on his K1200 for a while now as he's getting on a bit but he wouldn't accept my very generous offer of £500 and a lifetime subscription to SAGA magazine!!
I'm really looking forward to Aberystwyth on the 2nd June and meeting everyone.
I ride a 1999 Triumph Sprint 955i ST which I've owned from new. I love it. It's in mint condition with only 27k on the clock. I didn't ride it for 8 years due to illness. However as my garage is on a slope and with advancing years I've decided to go for a lighter bike and I now own a BMW F800 st. It's 20 kg lighter than the Triumph.
I bought the BMW just before Xmas and only had one ride on it before the bad weather. It's lighter alright but the saddle height is taller so is not easy to mount. It goes ok and is well made but doesn't have the oomph that a big engine gives you but it is certainly easier to get out of the garage. We'll see?
I promised my wife that I would sell the Triumph mainly because I've run out of space in the garage. I've now resorted to promising to build her a "summerhouse"! Complete with tool boards and benches!
I live on the Wirral and so I'm lucky that geographically I have easy access to Wales for a blast on some great roads.
I went to the Manx and the TT last year and as usual really enjoyed it, especially the historic weekend prior to Manx week. All those Gileras, Manx Nortons, M.V.'s, 7R's, Honda 6's etc. I have inherited my Dad's AJS 650, Royal Enfield bullet and my Mum's 1980 honda 70. I spend time playing with them and at the moment am fettling the AJS for the road this year.
Anyway I'll stop going on now as the garage is calling.
Best wishes to all, John.
