... and a Scottish newbie too
« on: September 29, 2019, 12:04:03 pm »
Hi All,

Just bought a 2010 K1300GT with 28k miles and a full BMWSH in excellent condition from a shop down South (Arnold Motorcycles - not a BMW dealer, however very pleasant and efficient to deal with).

I had a K1600GT prior to purchasing an S1000XR 2 years ago, and although I love the XR to bits, I wasn't looking forward to another winter without better weather protection.

After much time spent reading reviews, comparisons and forums, I think the K1300GT best fits my needs for daily 80 mile commuting year-round in the hot dry climate of sunny Scotland ;)

Consequently, for the first time in 30 years of biking, I now have 2 bikes at the same time ;D

The K13 is standard, aside from me lowering the pegs and ordering a replacement seat (thanks to fleabay) and a higher windshield; I find the existing seat to be easily the most uncomfortable seat I have ever used. Aside from the aforementioned ergonomic adjustments, I'm very pleased with my purchase, and am looking forward to a long and happy relationship.

Happy to meet up for coffee or a beer with any like-minded local residents or visitors to Central Scotland - feel free to PM me if in the area.

cheers Stu

Hi KMan - thanks.

Would be most interested in seeing the mods to your K13 some time?

Mine will be in use most days - if you're out and about, and up for it, perhaps we can meet up some time?

Hi Stu and welcome to the madhouse that is EuroKClub!

What with the climate change (that isn't happening cos my mate Donald told me so) you might well get hot dry winters in the former frozen north.

The summers on the other hand... 8)

I too thought that global warming was a scam until Queen Sturgeon confirmed it was real.

Will have to ease back on the cfc-laden hairsprays!
