£400+ and a  s/h one was £200+.
One question though, the protector is stuck to the lamp so would a bird impact spread the load over all the fixing or concentrate the weight of the impact on the relative fixings and breaking the lens?
Its not always the destination that counts its the ride, having a destination just stops you going round in circles.

I have no idea what make mine is as I was given it by the nice guy I bought the SW-Motech rack and side frames from. That and a couple of spare levers (another 'doh' thing that can leave you at the side of the road), so carry them at all times.

I have had headlamp protectors on all my bikes since they were first available. Mine fix with plastic 'velcro' thingies which have some give in them. Whichever make you buy, make sure it is polycarbonate. Mine has a few dings which might have cracked the headlight lens so I am counting myself lucky.

Brian (who knows they are cheap in local car parks but hasn't lost one yet)

Perhaps not as robust as an acrylic shield in front of the headlamp glass/plastic, but I previously used the Ventureshield (aka industrial cling film) film on my K13GT headlight to great effect. I'm just contemplating buying the same for my R12RT. Very impressed with the films when used across the tupperware leading edges, tank panels and pannier tops on the GT. :)

550 euros. Had the displeasure to change mine back in 2012 after a power slide.

Brian,

I may have missed this but where did you get your (ram) ball from ?

Hornig in Chermany. They do a whole range of 'bits' for the inner ends of the bars; I could play all day in their parts bin. They do need the 'standard', hollow bars though. When I fitted my Helibars I had to get the local engineering shop to drill and tap the ends of the solid alloy bars and machine the taper off the Hornig bits. After that it was easy-peasy.

Brian (who apologises for the delay, been under 9 tons of wet black clay in his back garden)
