The Bryncelyn Guesthouse -
http://www.bryncelyn-guesthouse.co.uk/The guest house is just 50 metres up the road from the hotel in the centre of the smallest town in Britain.
It has excellent rooms in a very old but refurbished building with secure, off-road parking (up a rather steep drive, so go in forwards
). The down side is that Lil, the Irish(!) owner, doesn't do full board, only B&B, but the breakfast is enough to feed a hungry man for the rest of the day.
Neuadd Arms Hotel -
http://www.neuaddarmshotel.co.uk/The Hotel is slap, bang in the centre of town and has good bike parking right outside the front door with plenty of other parking to the side and round the back for cars. The building is old and many of the rooms are in dire need of a little TLC but the price relects this. The hotel is famous for hosting the Green Events, in conjuction with the World Bog-snorkelling Championships, Mountain Bike Bog-snorkelling Championships as well as some of the daftest, or most wonderful trials and tribulations known to man and horse.
http://www.green-events.co.uk/The hotel is also EXTREMELY popular with walkers and trampers all year round so if you want to stay, early booking is essential.
The bar in the hotel sports a wonderful selection of local ales, many brewed right on the premises, as well as a really quite good restaurant which only suffers from being oversubscribed when the games are on or the place is packed with cagoules fresh off the mountains. This place is the 'hopping, heaving' centre of the night-life in the town with live music in the bar, seemingly most of the time.
My preference is to stay at Bryncelyn and get into the hotel early to eat and drink. There are other pubs and restaurants in the town, not all of which I have sampled.
