Praise or Shame / Emails for complains
« on: June 03, 2020, 12:50:05 pm »
Recently I witnessed the saga of a good friend there in UK regarding her bike a S1000R, incurable and thus inoperable by Manchester and  one more official  dealer (Preston?), a sort that continues for quite some time.
Since the matter will be forwarded high up the BMW Motorrad chain of complains I consider useful to post here the emails for future use by our members.
motorrad@bmw.de
Harald.krueger@bmw.de
Kundebetreuung@bmw.de
For UK owners: customerservice@bmw.co.uk
For US owners: bmwgenius@bmwusa.com
For North US and Canada (?) Bernhard.kuhnt@bmwna.com
It's my opinion that lately many dealers are treating us costumers without respect for our wallets and thus emails informing about such disgraceful behaviour should be sent to appropriate authorities .

K Club Humour / The badge
« on: October 18, 2019, 06:18:18 pm »
An undercover cop called at my farm in the sticks yesterday evening...
“I need to inspect your farm for illegally grown drugs”, he said.

“By all means officer, just don’t go in that field over there”, I replied.

The cop exploded, saying “Do you know who the fuck I am?! I have the authority of the government with me!”, he shouted before pulling a badge out of his back pocket, “Do you see this fucking badge?! This badge means I can do what I want and I’ll go wherever the fuck I want, have I made myself clear?!”

I nodded politely, apologised, and went about my work. A short while later, I hear loud screams, looked up and saw the cop running for his life being chased by my angry bull. With each step, the bull was gaining ground and he seemed sure to be gored before he reached safety. The officer looked terrified and continued to run for his life.

I threw down my tools, immediately ran to the edge of the fence and shouted at the top of my lungs,

“Your badge, show him your fucking badge!”

K Club Humour / Billy Graham
« on: July 15, 2019, 06:34:39 pm »
Billy Graham was returning to Charlotte after a speaking engagement and when his plane arrived there was a limousine there to transport him to his home. As he prepared to get into the limo, he stopped and spoke to the driver.

'You know' he said, 'I am 87 years old and I have never
Driven a limousine. Would you mind if I drove it for a while?'

The driver said, 'No problem. Have at it.'

Billy gets into the driver's seat and they head off down the highway. A short distance away sat a rookie State Trooper operating his first speed trap.

The long black limo went by him doing 70 in a 55 mph zone.

The trooper pulled out and easily caught the limo then got out of his patrol car to begin the procedure. The young trooper walked up to the driver's door and when the glass was rolled down, he was surprised to see who was driving.

He immediately excused himself and went back to his car and called his supervisor. 'I know we are supposed to enforce the law.... but I also know that important people are given certain courtesies. I need to know what I should do because I have stopped a very important person.'

The supervisor asked, 'Is it the governor?'

The young trooper said, 'No, he's more important than that.'

The supervisor said, 'Oh, so it's the president.'

The young trooper said, 'No, he's even more Important than that.'

After a moment, the supervisor finally asked, 'Well then, who is it?'

The young trooper said, 'I think it's Jesus, because he's got Billy Graham for a chauffeur!'

K Club Humour / Τhe test
« on: February 06, 2019, 04:46:04 pm »
A Texas State trooper pulled a car over on I-35 about 2 miles south of Waco Texas. When the trooper asked the driver why he was speeding, the driver said he was a Magician and Juggler and was on his way to Austin Texas to do a show for the Shrine Circus. He didn't want to be late.
The trooper told the driver he was fascinated by juggling and said if the driver would do a little juggling for him then he wouldn't give him a ticket. He told the trooper he had sent his equipment ahead and didn't have anything to juggle.
The trooper said he had some flares in the trunk and asked if he could juggle them. The juggler said he could, so the trooper got 5 flares, lit them and handed them to him.
While the man was juggling, a car pulled in behind the State Troopers car. A drunken good old boy from central Texas got out, watched the performance, then went over to the Trooper's car, opened the rear door and got in. The trooper observed him and went over to the State car, opened the door asking the drunk what he thought he was doing.
The drunk replied, “You might as well take my ass to jail, cause there ain't no way I can pass that test.”

An Airbus 380 is on its way across the Atlantic. It flies consistently at 800 km/h in 30,000 feet, when suddenly a Eurofighter with Tempo Mach 2 appears.
The pilot of the fighter jet slows down, flies alongside the Airbus and greets the pilot of the passenger plane by radio: "Airbus flight, boring flight isn’t it? Take care and have a look here!”

He rolls his jet on its back, accelerates, breaks through the sound barrier, rises rapidly to a dizzying height, only to swoop down almost to sea level in a breathtaking dive. He loops back next to the Airbus and asks, "Well, how was that?"

The Airbus pilot answers: "Very impressive, but now have a look here!"

The jet pilot watches the Airbus, but nothing happens. It continues to fly stubbornly straight, with the same speed. After five minutes, the Airbus pilot radioed, "Well, what are you saying now?"

The jet pilot asks confused: "What did you do?" The other laughs and says, "I got up, stretched my legs, went to the back of the flight to the bathroom, got a cup of coffee and a cinnamon cake and made an appointment with the stewardess for the next three nights - in a 5 Star hotel, which is paid for by my employer. "

The moral of the story is:
When you are young, speed and adrenaline seems to be great. But as you get older and wiser, comfort and peace are not to be despised either.
This is called S.O.S.: Slower, Older, Smarter.

Dedicated to all my friends who like me likes the S.O.S. approach! ✈️

Rebuilt clutch ordered from John Sykes, just watching while he haggles on eBay with a Lithuanian over the price of a second-hand K13 clutch to modify and rebuild. Should be with me in time for my week off in October when I bring the bike back over and Ocean have agreed they will install it for me.

Update on clutch progress
"Have now completed the re engineering of the clutch basket and hub/pressure plate. Ready for de greasing and assembly once its dried off. The new pack of clutch plates arrived today so if all runs to plan I'm hoping it will be assembled by the end of the week."

Royal Mail and Ocean Falmouth willing it should be in the bike in w/c 15 October. I am really looking forward to getting back to a normal clutch instead of this on / off switch, and keen to see if any of the other vibes and noises off disappear too.

"Basket is rebuilt using new main load springs and idle control spring, other new internal parts and with the 1200 engines oil pump drive. The hub (lamellar pack) has all new faces for the friction plates on the flange and pressure plate with a complete new set of friction and steel plates. I have also incorporated the the 1300 engines type of anti chatter spring withing the plate pack as hoped."
“The clutch is assembled dry (no oil other than needed for assembly) with the two main parts ready to fit. Both basket and particularly the hub with its new plates only need a further small amount of oil pouring into their centres to wet everything all over. All this talk of leaving to soak overnight immersed in oil is not required. Perhaps wishful thinking by folk who know their clutch is in poor condition.

I have also included a separate steel plate and a separate friction plate in the box. They are 0.2 and 0.8 mm thicker than those in the rebuilt hub pack. These could come in handy to save the clutch if exchanged for their thinner equivalents to restore the original thickness if there is any sign of slip due to lining wear in the distant future. Perhaps pass on to future owners just in case so that there is maximum life to be had out of the clutch and bike.

The bikes original thrust washer between basket and hub along with release bearing and hub nut need transferring to be used again. Please encourage the workshop to fit the hub without dismantling. Some try to remove the six hexagon socket head screws that compress the pressure spring as they don't have the correct large socket for the hub nut. They need a thin wall socket to fit through the release bearing carrier to tighten the main hub nut. Even new hubs have been fitted at BMW shops by dismantling first. Problem is the alignment can be disturbed and the bike kangaroos off the line the second the second it starts to move forwards.”

K1200 / K1300 Forum / News update on K1300S (mine)
« on: May 25, 2018, 12:53:28 pm »
Hello to all,
This is an update on the engine failure due to 1st cylinder broken no 2 (oil insertion) ring.
BMW Motorrad refused to take over some of the expenses or express good will gestures based on the fact that engine and bike is a 2009 model with 50000 Kms made in late December of 2008 . As such I solemnly responsible for not raising the subject earlier  , and the fact that PUMA justification was submitted under the best conditions didn’t effect the way they issued a non acceptance order.
Luckily am a man with good friends as being demonstrated by Tom and Brian both most valuable assets of our forum.
Tom discovered an engine at James Sherlock and suggested that Brian could assist in acquiring that engine . That’s the way thinks went on with the help of my son Paul who actually covered the cost of engine plus shipment that new engine arrived yesterday at local dealer. Inspection took place and mechanic went on to orde alll parts that are now needed for a complete change of almost everything at my request . Parts will cost 700e and the rest another 300e , labor is subject to a deal that I hope it will be reached with dealership owner.
That is the story so far . Expect installation will take place sometime next week or the next depending on parts availability locally.
Will keep you informed.
Finally for one more time allow me to express my gratitude to both Tom and Brian for their wonderful valuable assistance.
PS James Sherlock is a good partner for future business and comes fm me highly recommended.

K1200 / K1300 Forum / First cylinder spring no 2 broken
« on: April 26, 2018, 03:48:18 pm »
Today before a telecom arrive fm my mechanic went it pick up bike sure that the ordeal with the broken spark plug is the only issue. I was again fast to make assumptions maybe being a bit impulsive doesn’t help.
Costas and Tasos (am using names since Brian knows the mechanics) saw me and immediately nod to move into the special section inside the premises. Bike was there fully exposed engine. What the f... is going in. Mechanic said we were expecting you but in a friendly basis we wanted to demonstrate issue to you and talk face to face.
We believe that in Cylinder no 1 one of the springs is left wide open probably it is left like this for a long time . Firstly a bit opened and slowly lost completely its  ability to act like a spring . Bells in my head . The oil consumption in this way is explained. No 1 spark plug was covered in thick oil residue and was not broken nieitgervthe coil was the issue. And now the verdict and the way to follow repairs.

The Euro K Club Lounge / Facebook discovery
« on: December 25, 2017, 07:17:14 am »
Hi, lately I've been bombarded with posts by a group established in UK land under the name  : BMW K1200S is one of the nisest bikew around.
Seeing that they are now close to 500 members, might worth  the effort to make contact with them as they present a good oportunity for a lobby type group to as a lever of pressure towards mother BMW , seeking some better support, especially now that bikes are aproaching the 15 yeas point.
It's just a thought came to my mind considering similar actions taken here by our group with some success even at a far lower membership. For example we have requested and local rep secured an adequate supply of engine parts, plus a 15% dedaction at their prices.
