Tell me I'm not the only person to misread Jupiler every time I go abroad.
Beer named after a planet must be better, surely?

So, in Belgium, they not only have to contend with people pretending to be "plod" by wearing POLITE vests, they also have to deal with POLITE bikes!  ;)

Oh!, hang on a minute ...

I think all plod should be forced to ride and drive the products of their own country...there are quite a few around here where we would have the upper hand  ;D

Name a Dutch made motorbike? Van veen? Think there were only a couple of dozen and they are kind of expensive. Electric push bike will do about 50kmh. Dutch cars? Offhand can't think of one. Bring it on!

DAF!
They were bought out by Volvo.

There are about as many DAFs in the UK as there were Van Veens (ever):

Or as my Dad said (Dad jokes were around even in the 70s):
I'll buy one when they bring out the Model T

Not made on another planet, but here ... hence its name...

...

... while I'm asking myself what the hell the Antwerp police was doing in Dinant...
There are I0 kinds of people : those who can count in binary, and those who can't...

It was a misty and cool start in Dinant this morning, but after a few miles the mist cleared and the temperature rose to about 23 degrees. Here we are in Ypres / Ieper on a warm snd sunny afternoon, having a couple of beers before we meet Sudolea and his wifer later on.
Found a little nook for the bike right next to the hotel.

Back in the days when the DAF team used to compete in internationsl rallies the team manager was overheard boasting about their cars having an infinite number of gears in their Variomatic 'gearboxes' to which the Ford team manager quipped 'Yes, and always in the wrong one for the conditions...'

We met up with Sudolea and his wife Sabine on Friday evening, it was a very pleasant evening. We went to the Last Post Ceremony and on to a restaurant where good food good drinking and good company was enjoyed. They Journey to the tunnel on Saturday morning was uneventful and took about an hour and ten minutes. There was a bit of a queue at passport control but we got through eventually and  onto the train. We stayed in Wellingborough on Saturday evening to break up the journey, and Sunday morning was a two hour dash for home. It's so nice to go travelling, but it's oh so nice to come home.

I'm glad to hear you had a great trip. There's nothing like a jaunt across to Euroland so I'm just a little bit jealous. :D
