Solution for floppy Fender Extenders?
« on: February 18, 2018, 09:52:09 am »
So, Norman, with whom I don't communicate on a regular basis  :o sent me this interesting link for a Wunderlich fender extender for an R1200 wateva...

https://www.nippynormans.com/r1200r-lc-2015-on/wunderlich-front-extender-r1200r-lc

...and whilst this obviously won't fit the K12/13/16 range, the idea has to be adaptable to stop fender extenders (and even the stock mudguard in the case of the K12/13) from flapping in the breeze and eventually cracking like the cheapo plastic it is.

Over to the tinkerers and engineers out there....  8)

The said Norman should be ashamed of himself, £89 squids for something that should sell for £19.99 ::) I get the impression that there is a perception that BMW owners are an easy touch.

It does flap slightly, but not enough to wear much on the tyre.
So buy two.  ;D ;D

The cheapest bit of carbon you'll ever purchase for a BMW.

Two things to note:
- it does need trimming on the sides, in my experience
- ideally you need to drill your mudguard. But no-one will see because the extender is there.

The problem is the flapping cracks the front mudguard at the top, rear of the support strut in the angle.

Ah. Fair enough. Mine seems to be OK after 27k. Maybe my carved version is just light enough not to stress the mudguard.

The Wunderlich front extender does look rubbish and a rip off at £89.
As I have grown older, I've learned that pleasing everybody is impossible, but pissing everyone off is a piece of cake.

Looks like a device for holding crap up against the calliper.
