French Duffers 2022
« on: April 20, 2022, 06:28:40 pm »
For the first time since 2019 the Duffers are off to France on Sunday 24th April. Our trip starts in Portsmouth where we board the ferry to Saint-Malo, then onto Sens and Bapaume.
I'll try to remember to take some photos, although Richard is keen on holiday snaps so I'm sure he will post some photos.
There are six of us this time, which is a nice size for keeping the group together.

I had the casting vote for our mob to go to Le-Mans last weekend which we have been doing for well over 30 years....said no...thought of dealing with covid in French...best of luck.

The six of us individually decided to take the chance, we have all been fully vaccinated and a couple of us have had a top up dose of Covid 19 to top up the immunity, so fingers crossed we'll be OK. The Oh Macron variant is very mild.

I did the trip across France (and Germany, Austria, Italy and Switzerland) last September. The biggest COVID issues was getting back into the UK. The COVID restrictions really aren't a problem. Download the French COVID app and load your NHS vaccination details into it. After that, it's dead easy.

I hope you have a great time Rae.

I thought that there were no longer any restrictions to enter France. I have my NHS vaccination certificate. Isn’t that enough?

Proof of vaccination is all that is needed. If unvaccinated a test is required.

Loading the TousAntiCovid app onto our phones meant that, when asked to prove we were vaccintated, simply seeing us open the app was enough and, for most places, there wasn't even a requirement to see the QR code.

Thanks for that. Very helpful. I shall get the TousAntiCovid app once I have booked my hotels. I intend going to Spain as well. Does anyone know whether I need a Spanish app as well?

I intend going mid-July

We're doing the Old Gits trip to Spain in June and I'm not aware of anything Spain requires, I'll let you know when we get back.

Good luck on the foray into France. Hope the weather is good and the roads empty. Personally it the last place I would want to go for fun. Don't forget high viz vests and reflective helmet stickers. Also no speeding.....fines are issued for minor speeding and there are cameras in every bush. I am not sure if the points carry over to your UK licence now we are out of the EU.

There is a lot of misinformation out there, the helmet stickers being a prime example. Helmet stickers are only needed for helmets bought and worn in France.
