Who's Who? / Moving on
« on: September 19, 2019, 02:26:06 pm »
Hello all.

Just a wee note to say that I'm trading in the K1300s on Sunday and riding home on a nearly new Yamaha Tracer 900GT. I've enjoyed my time on the big K and it's been great to own a hyper-bike, but the time has come to move back to a smaller sports-tourer and the GT seems to fit the bill nicely. I've never owned a Yamaha or a triple so another couple of boxes ticked there. This one has had lots of nice Yamaha goodies bolted on so that wee bit more special than a stock bike... First reg March 2019 with just under 3k on the clock with one owner.

The big bike has been really reliable and I will be sad to see it go but I can't keep them all. Thanks again for the advice and the banter and I'll still drop by every now and then to have a lurk.  :)

Thanks again TurboBevy.

John.

A Government spokesman said “we need a strong stick to prevent unauthorized road crossing by pedestrians”.

I say WE need guns to shoot the politicians and so called, civil servants with. That'll teach the bastards.  :(

They are meeting near me this month. I might go by car and suss them out. Maybe I'm old enough for them now. Any older and it'll be Harleys.

Go by bike, and show them a real BMW!

I always assumed people gravitate away from Harleys with increased knowledge, rather than towards them with increased age.
Maybe I Just don't know enough Harley riders to extrapolate.

Which now gives me an excuse to drag out this old chestnut:
There are only two types of people in the world, those who can extrapolate from incomplete data...

In 2015? My wife and I crossed the entire USA from Florida (East) to L.A. (West) on a rented 2014 Rootbeer Red, Electra Glide Ultra and it was just about the perfect bike for that journey and I genuinely missed it when we returned home.... 4500 miles in 12 amazing days and nothing broke or fell off, although the oil pressure gauge did work loose in the bezel, meh. Performance dropped off when it was really hot, which it was in Death Valley even in March and also at altitude, Lake Tahoe which was chilly, but at 80mph and above! it sucked down on its haunches and just glided up the highway like its name suggests it could. The banging stereo was also a real boon. Not a bike for Scottish goat tracks, but for crossing the Continent of the USA. Just the fecking job.

I also have the memory of getting caught speeding, 85 in a 70, on a loaner Glide from Edinburgh Harley the February previous to our USA trip as a get to know you ride, on the A1 by Police Scotland. Although I was cautioned. They never did prosecute me because - I was a nice man enjoying a nice motorcycle on an empty road. What's the harm?  ;)

I still fancy a K1200RS. Perhaps I should join....  ;D

P.S. Nearly all group ride-outs by there very nature are slow, dull and somewhat boring.

Think I'd rather use that amount of money on a deposit for a new KTM SD GT. https://youtu.be/bcfzgIZW5Qo?t=136

But then as an old boy I used to know would say. Yeh dinny look at the gearbox when yer welding the chassis, son.  ;D

Enough of that. Back to me ball joints. The invoice provided on warranty, or even warrantee, if your Murican? for the replacement of top & bottom BJs was £276.68. I hope I notice the difference when we finally get out for a bimble, please make it soon....

Wow. Can't wait until SuperJezza becomes PM and renationalises the wailways, lock, stock and Intercity 125.

Was the review bike the 30th Anni? The bestest and the fastest by far? How did they rate reliability & costs of ownership?  :o

Battery wantage....

Isn't that the measure of the continuous draw that a potential new battery places on an unopened wallet? :D

You only get 'watt' you pay for.

However. £200 is rather a lot for a motorbike battery, what....
