« on: May 21, 2016, 09:48:27 am »
Normally this place is shut by 5 or 6 at the latest

Handy If your thinking of a late Friday afternoon ride into Wales.

Just went shopping down our local Aldis, they have Zumo 340LM's now going for 169. Their website says out of stock so it is dependant on stock in your local store. Might be worth a look if your after one

Praise or Shame / Gerbing. When lifetime warranty really does mean it
« on: April 07, 2016, 10:42:28 pm »
In 2007 I bought a Gerbing Heated Jacket liner, and its been lovely and warm until very recently when all of a sudden It seemed to be blowing the fuse in the battery hook up lead quite regularly. But, I wasnt sure if it was the jacket or the heat controller which I bought at a later date. Anyway Gerbing say that the Jackets are lifetime warranty whereas the controllers are 3 years. I phoned Gerbing and explained and they said to send both to them and they would test them, but they needed proof of purchase to honour the warranty, bugger, 9 years ago, receipt? Guess what, I found the receipt for the jacket in my filing system, but couldnt find it for the controller, but sent them off anyway with what I had.

Earlier today I had a response from Gerbing, the controller is causing the fuse to blow and isnt covered as they can tell its more than 3 years old, and I dont have a receipt anyway. But, theyve also found that one of the arms of the jacket isnt heating up correctly and as its an old design they wont repair so are sending me a brand new latest micro wire version FOC. In view of that I phoned em up and bought a new controller over the phone and asked them to send when they send the jacket.

Oh, and just the most helpful courteous people on the phone you could ever wish for, top marks Gerbing.

I thought this ol 200 Ducati particualrly nice

Thought Id treat you all to pics of my latest purchase, a Rider 400 and an Interphone F4MC, sorry to all you Garmin fans, I find Tom Toms a bit more intuitive.

Cost?  About the same as an 18K Dealer service on a K  ;D

Timbox's Bikes / A Trio of German Birds

Corse Im still ere, a few of my previous German Tarts

The old Tank, fittingly by a tank range just outside Bergen-Belsen, 80K miles with few big issues, Wales to Hanover in 10 hours give or take

The old Super Tanker, fantastic bike really, just stupidly expensive to run and plagued with annoying issues

The last German, surprisingly capable but again early problems(Gearbox)

Notice the Givi V46 on all them bikes? Had that top box 10 years until blind 92 year old smashed it and the bike, more upset about the top box really.

I know your not into Buxom English Girls, so wont bother with the Tiger Tank or a few of the earlier Jap Bikes

The Euro K Club Lounge / 5/40 oil

I was just down at CMC buying a set of plugs for the Tiger, 9 a set by the way  ;D and  I noticed on the shelf they had Silkolene Pro Fully synth 5/40 at 11.99 a liter, latest MA2 clutch spec too.

Oh yeah, and Silkolene have changed the name of Pro Cool to Mag Cool, and the colour of the stuff,  sure it was blue, now Yellow.

Hmmm , the above may not be true about the coolant, Fuchs still list both on the web, shop told me it was the replacement

Kit Reviews / Calling Shark Evoline 3 Helmet Owners?
« on: December 31, 2015, 08:46:47 pm »
Anybody here got one?  Ive been paid out for the damaged Helmet and jacket so I thought I would have a look at alternative Helmets. I saw a mate today who reckons he had one and it was the worse helmet he had ever bought and sold it after a month, but knowing him Im not taking just his word. A Schuberth C3 is probably the other option but the Shark appeals as its the only one that is approved for riding with the chin up.

The Euro K Club Lounge / Dont believe it, rear ended again.
« on: December 07, 2015, 06:50:55 pm »
A lot worse for the bike this time, I'm thankfully fairly ok.

20 minute ride to the shops and back, stationary outside where we live waiting to turn in to our lane, bang, saw him coming too in the mirror, no brakes nothing, just ploughed into me, yep, 92 years old.
Cops have cautioned him.
This could be the end, not because of me, but seeing the look of shear panic on the missus face as she stood over me telling me not to move( she is a nurse). This is the 3rd rear ender in 7 years. Think maybe I'm being told something.

Tomorrow that is, at 11:00. Set your watch, phone,  whatever. Its not a lot of time, we can all do it

So, its not just BMW Motorrad who fleece us for silly money for a Sat Nav.

Ive just ordered my new Co Car, a Skoda Octavia 4x4. My model doesnt get sat nav as standard so its 750 extra, but whats worse with the car is, its not even different hardware, apart from a different roof aerial, its basically all software on SD cards, the main touch-screen radio unit is basically the same. So maybe 600 for Nav V isnt bad after all.
Sorry, cars, nasty things, unless of course its minus whatever and snow every-where
