K1200 / K1300 Forum / Bike trying to start with key removed?!
« on: September 03, 2019, 04:09:39 pm »
Ok see if anyone can help out with this one. Pulled up at a petrol station, removed key, opened fuel cap, and bike tried to start, as in started motor started to crank engine. Took key from filler cap, turned on bike, starter stopped cranking. Filled up as normal. Did this intermittently since. Replaced starter motor relay and kill switch (right-hand switch module), both from bmw. Still does it, any thoughts as to next option?
Thanks

K1200 / K1300 Forum / Launching my K1300s
« on: October 12, 2018, 11:49:36 am »
Am I right in thinking that I can give my bike full throttle when pulling away and not Wheely?
I remember reading somewhere on here about disconnecting something at the throttle bodies that allows you to get full power in 1st and 2nd.
With that in mind, if I keep it connected and traction control on, can I then pull away and give it full throttle?
Why I ask is on a recent trip with my brother in law on a fireplace, he wanted a drag style race from the lights, but I was a little nervous about how much I could open her up, fearing pulling a Wheely, I backed off a bit.
Anyone tried giving it full beans from standstill?

Hi everyone, im after a rear rack bag (day bag) for my K1300S, BMW code 77498562634, ive only seen pictures of these, never in the flesh, but they are similar size to the actual rear rack, almost triangular, and they slip over the pointy end of the rack then attach to the grab rails, black in colour, with BMW Motoradd on the rear.

K1200 / K1300 Forum / One off engineering parts?
« on: June 15, 2018, 05:42:15 pm »
Hi, I seem to remember someone on here advertising there services making small engineering parts/brackets/milled parts etc, but can’t remember where or who? I think he’s retired and has got a little workshop, and said he would charge only for the materials, no labour?!
Anybody know who he is?
Thanks

K1200 / K1300 Forum / Pannier inner bags
« on: June 14, 2018, 11:22:32 am »
Hi all, i've managed to source me some 2nd hand panniers, so i'm on the hunt for some inner bags. After reading the comments about the standard inner bags being not much use, i'm now interested in the cordura ones that are the same shape as the panniers. The ones id seen were from Kathy Journey Design (KJD) from america and Great Bikers Gear. Can anyone recommend any of these or any others? Also are the panniers for the F800 (sports expandable) the same size inside as the ones for the K1300? I know the rear of the panniers are different, where it fits around the shape of the rear panels etc, but the inner bags sell for less on ebay for the F800 than the K1300.

K1200 / K1300 Forum / Main stand
« on: April 18, 2018, 10:23:22 pm »
Hi, I’d like to fit a main stand, but I’m having difficulty finding a second hand one. Does anyone know if any other models main stand would fit? Like K1300R, K1200S or R?
Thanks

K1200 / K1300 Forum / Fitting camera, horn and inforad
« on: April 15, 2018, 11:39:17 pm »
Hi guys, i want to fit a Roadhawk Ride camera, Denali air horn and Inforad (speed camera warning device) to my 13 plate K1300S. By fitting these, will they play havoc with the cambus system?
I’ve also got a Fuzeblocks FZ-1 which I could use, which basically has 6 individually fused outputs, so you connect it to the battery, then give it a switched input (normally from the side light, which comes on when you switch the ignition on) then the device gives you either 6 switched outputs, 6 I switched outputs or a combination of both.
I found it very useful on my last bike for running my heated grips, camera, 12v socket, battery indicator etc, all the fuses in one box.

K1200 / K1300 Forum / Final drive gearbox re-paint colour?
« on: April 10, 2018, 11:00:35 pm »
Hi, does anyone know the paint colour for my K1300s (2013) final drive gearbox as I’m planning on rubbing it down to have it re-sprayed?
My bike is the black and grey paint scheme, with the dark grey (a bit like gun metal grey) forks, frame and swing arm.
Or is there a paint code on the bike somewhere?
Thanks

K1200 / K1300 Forum / Retro fit alarm?
« on: April 10, 2018, 10:54:31 pm »
Hi guys, does anyone know if I was to buy a 2nd hand alarm, say from eBay, with fobs, could I just plug it in and away I go?
Will my bike have the wiring already there to plug into?
If so where would it be?
Thanks

K1200 / K1300 Forum / Exhaust valve
« on: March 30, 2018, 02:14:16 pm »
Another question for you's
When I switch the ignition on, should the flapper valve in the exhaust open and shut?
Ive got the exhaust end can off at the moment, and I can see the valve just inside the pipe. When I try and move it, it is very stiff, and when I turn the ignition on, nothing happens to its position.
Thanks

K1200 / K1300 Forum / Bevel gearbox drive strip
« on: March 30, 2018, 02:01:35 pm »
Hi guys, me again
Has anyone replaced the outer casing of the rear bevel gearbox drive? My bike has been down the road at some point, and the outer casing has been worn away at an angle, where a crash bung would normally have been fitted. I could replace the gearbox complete, but these are quite pricey, and a different colour, but ive seen just an outer shell for a third of the price. So could I just take everything out of my case and fit it to the new case? I seem to remember somebody saying its a tricky job because you have to shim it, so gets very technical?
Thanks

K1200 / K1300 Forum / Oil leak from top engine cover (2013 K1300S)
« on: March 15, 2018, 01:38:41 pm »
Hi everyone, I'm a newbie to BMW ownership, so be gentle with me please. I'd like to pick your brains about an oil leak, that is coming from the top cover seal (rocker cover?) whilst the bike is running. The oil appears to be coming out in small squirts, with bubbles or air coming out as-well. Ive also been told the gasket is rubber, and can be re-used, and also its not common for these to leak. I know the engine is cocked forward instead of upright, so the oil is more likely to be in that area anyway, but any advice from you guys would be much appreciated. My main concern is the air/bubbles. Could it be pressurized, due to another fault?

Bian
