Radiator Bo!!oc*s
« on: May 19, 2018, 07:31:06 am »
So in true gullible home mechanic style I was inspired by TomL and RichTea to clean the rad... all I can think is that the rad on K13 is easier to access than the one on a K12....

What a b*#*$d of a job!... Tom absolutely no way you can pull a fan on a 12 without removing all the rad fixings, plus even then the top right (as you're sat on the bike) screw for the fan housing is flush to the headers and even with rad mounts unclipped, if you're not undoing the plumbing forward movement is barely a cm making it ultra hard to access.

What a sod of a job, still all done and reassembled... the bike will need to blow up before I do that again.

Also spotted some fab 'chimp DIY' from a previous owner... There's what looks like a plastic expansion tank at the top of the rad that connects to the water pump feed that I think should be secured with some form of large Spring clip... Looks like someone broke it in the past and just poked the broken bits in to the gap in the cap... No idea if it's critical but all seems to run well.

Remind me to ignore you guys more  :D

I think you'll find that overflow tank is the thermostat housing and the large circlip holds the lid on with its rubber 'O' ring seal and stops the whole shooting match dumping the contents of the rad on the road.

I'd get a new new pdq...

...item 3, part no. 17117676963, a couple of quid or the breakdown service. You call it Chimp DiY and you left it?  Proper Chimp then!

Not here they didn't,  ;D I would like you to use top line characters if you really feel the need to use foul language. I can usually get my point across adequately without resorting to bad language, I have been know to swear a bit but not in day to day conversation.

But it's not a swear word... British legal precedent confirms this... It just means 'nonsense'...

"Perhaps the best-known use of the term is in the title of the 1977 punk rock album Never Mind the Bollocks, Here's the Sex Pistols. Testimony in a resulting prosecution over the term demonstrated that in Old English, the word referred to a priest, and could also be used to mean "nonsense". Defence barrister John Mortimer QC and Virgin Records won the case: the court ruled that the word was not obscene.[48] It just means "put aside all of that other rubbish and pay attention to this"

All very Orwellian...

All very informative, thank you. I would still like you to use top line characters if you feel the need to swear or use words that anyone might find offensive. The Sex Pistols were well renowned for shocking and offensive behaviour, it sold records. We are not here to sell records  ;D

Nor to foist our own moral standards on others I think.

I can't actually see an icon for bollox at the top of my screen...

If it's OK with you Brian then it's OK with me  ???
A lot of our members actually appreciate the moral standards of our forum, I think. Maybe they will tell us. Anyone?

I don't mind profanity if it adds to the conversation, i.e. used occasionally for emphasis, exasperation or humour.
What does p*ss me off is when it's just f*** ing punctuation - that's annoying as f***.  *

On this forum it's nearly always the former, and that's fine.

*Attempt at humour. Feel free to edit that, Rae   :-[ :o

And John Mortimer created Rumpole of the Bailey... EuroKClub... entertaining and informative...

And don't ever bother to faff with the radiator on a K12 😄

Didn't somebody say "a swear word is just a substitute for a better word"?
Its not always the destination that counts its the ride, having a destination just stops you going round in circles.
